I currently bought a new desk which isn't better than the previous one I had. It is an L Shape desk to have room for my peripherals and what not. Well I have to have my Tower on the floor this time around and the floor is wood. So you can feel and hear the vibrations of movement which go through out the room. I normally recommend having the tower in a very solid place on top of the desk or around the room. I do have room for it on the desk but it would mean somethings I would have to manually connect like the printer and external hard drives when I need to use them. I have a very clean cable management set up and like to keep everything connected. I try and limit any vibrations so to not affect the hard drives to extend their longevity. Don't want the read/write heads scratching the surface of the disk and giving me bad sectors and errors in the future.

So where do you have your PC? (Pics not needed but if added is OK)

and

what do you think about my placement?

You can see the built in desk/shelf area behind it. That is where I plan to use as a workbench for PC repair and have a server with the monitor on the wall. It looks empty because I just took everything out of my room to clean it spot less and moving in back slowly.

You can see how everything is set up here except for my cable management. The side part is where I eat and be place for my netbook/laptop whenever I get one. You can see the PC on the floor to the left.

I found an ideal big desk but it was almost 200 but it had everything I needed. The holes for cable management. Big,wide, and long desk for all hardware but I would have to wait two weeks to order it. I went with this 80 dollar one. Its not as spacious as I like but I am adjusting to it. A lot of good desks I found had the roll out keyboard which I do not like so that was the number 1 thing that took them out of the choice.

and your placement is ok, but i would prefer on top of the desk.

Roughly the same location as Tempest, and with the supplied Silicon feet, itesnt more or make any noise ^^

I have wood floors, dunno if it would make a HUGE difference, mine is also under my desk. One of the major downsides to the floor is dust, but cooler air down there.

Only reason I know mine is on is from the red glow and I have the video card fans on manual so I don't have to hear them ramp up when it's not needed.

Mine's on the floor. I sit next to it and have a mousepad + armrest on top :P

Also, I have the same trash can as Clarko :D

I have my PC on a nice piece of wood next to my desk. For the desk I just bought a nice board and some wall mounting brackets with excessive weight limits and built the desk right into the wall. Its about 7 feet long and actually sits really high at around 4 feet. I just run the cable through the spaces inside the brackets. Cost me about $35 for everything and took about 20 minutes to build.

And the area of the desk I use most often.
