Good FREE Antivirus software?

My free trials of CA Antivirus are about to run out on my desktop and laptop. I'm just wondering if there's some other good free antivirus programs out there that you guys have used.

i would use AVG. It's free and actually pretty decent. Also it doesnt use alot of memory and stuff when running so it wont affect your computer as much as others do, performance wise that is.

AVG used to be awsome but this year has been proven to be less up to par. It has shown to be both invasive of system resources and also not so good at catching everything.

Best site for comparing antivirus programs (free and not free) search for "antivirus comparatives" in search engine. They rate programs twice a year on equal terms and allow vyou to see previous year's results.

You can't really get a good free antivirus. However...there are ways...;P

Probably AVG is the best free anti virus. If you ever plan on buying, get Kaspersky or NOD32. They own.

If you were to buy, I would ALWAYS reccomend Kapersky over NOD32.

SPYBOT, search and destroy.

this will not leave u disappointed. best part is if it can't cure a problem it will tell u instead of just not doing anything about it.

According to this, AVG ranked 7th in the best antivirus software. Says it has bad proactive protection O_O

Oh yeah, when I used AVG, a new update came out every 1-2 days.

Well is anyone else having that problem? I have just clicked it several times from Firefox and Opera and it works every time - even with different web browsers.

However, http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is the main site - click on the "comparatives" menu and then which ever year you want to see.
