Today, when i started up my comp, then BOOM, well not boom, my VGA fan was like buzzing horribly like a jet taking off in a miniaturized sound, I flipped my comp to the side, open the case and turned on my comp (Mini Tower comp/Mini Comp) and start booting up, next thing you know i hear noises from the VGA fan, I know this because when i took out my 8400 GS, it was extremely quiet and back to the point, at first the fan was buzzing and the fan seems to be moving ok, but as it boots up to the Dell screen (the f2=, f11= etc.) the fan seems to have slowed down and a jaggedly buzzing sound occurs. Can it be a defect or... something else, and anyone have any good suggestions on a good VGA fan?

Extra:
After a week or two I started to experience ALOT of choke in cs:s and DoD:s (up to 50+), and now I'm back to my integrated Video display (6150 SE):cursing:

It could just be something is in the fan if you recently took it out. Did you look in and around the fan for anything sticking into it?

You could also try downloading Speedfan. This programs lets you adjust the speed of the fans in your computer so you could lower the speed to see if it makes it any quieter.

And about your note. Choke is set by your rates in game and your internet speed. A bad video card will not effect choke. If you have having choke issues look at the "How to fix your lag in CS:S" Guide found here.

I have the Zalman vf900 on a 4670 and it works great. This is a less expensive alternative.

At 23 dollars that's quite pricey for such a low end card, aka wasting your money. You might as well put in another 20-30 bucks and get something like the 8800GS or 9600 and instantly gain 8x the power.

If you check out this list: Graphics Rankings

Every 3 rows up is a good upgrade. going from the 8400gs to 8800gs is 13 rows.
