alright i am thinking about buying a second gtx 285 for the SLI. i currently have an EVGA GTX 285 2GB. Do i need to buy the exact same card? Can i buy the 1GB version? and it still work? O ya i have a 750 watt psu. Is that enough to run two 285s?

Which 750 watt PSU?

If it were me I would buy the 2GB version. If you buy a 1GB version then only 1GB of the 2GB version will be used, but it will work.

From what I have read you need the exact same card .. better be safe than sorry.... and the psu should be just fine.... but if you want to be sure I would upgrade... hope this helps you out... my thoughts any way..

As long as it is the same chipset it will work but, as FreakingHell said only 1gb of your 2gb card will work. In SLI mode what ever the lowest card has is what it will use, so if you have one OC card and one normal it will slow the OC'd card to match the normal cards speed and reduce the used memory to the lowest cards value.

This.

yea....unlike ATI Nvidia is more strict with SLI i believe and you should try to get the same exact card. You would also want to get another 2gb one so that the current 2gb isn't be wasted since it gets downclocked or w/e to 1gb. Get the same speed card too.

A corsair 750tx should just cut it for 2xGTX 285 2gb
As far as im concerned, its virtually the same as a GTX 295 but takes a bit more power consumption

GTX 285 = 183 TDP I believe.

183x2 = 366. 366/12 = 30.5 amps. A 750tx should be plenty, but can't know for sure without your complete system specs.

My Corsair 750tx runs my GTX295 and an 8800GT just fine. Well, it used to before lightning fried my rig.

alright thanks guys. Now i gotta wait on a good Deal on an EVGA GTX 285 2GB. I bought it from Newegg for $404, but newegg deactivated it. Everywhere else ive looked they are $450 now. Weird.

I dont think the memory would be a big issue, sine cards cant read memory from eachother you will still get 2GB memory.
