Upgrading A Processor

Ok, I think I found one that fits in there:

Also thanks JunK for finding that. That looks exactly like my motherboard. So again, does this fit into my motherboard?

Should be fine, get it from newegg.com tho. Its cheaper there. Also if u can afford it, get the E8400, its faster and has more cache which will help.

Here ill link the CPU you were looking at and the one i think you should get. They are both much cheaper on newegg.com

pewpew his motherboard doesn't say it will support the e8400
it still might work, it is still only 65W and all...but i dunno...

hmmm i read the mobo you posted, the HP OEM one and i see what you mean, it says it only supports hte E7000 series. The thing is, it also says (Wolfdale) which is code name for the E series pretty much including the E8400 since they are all 45nm based processors.
Technically there should be no problem with the mobo supporting the E8400 but theres no certainty with OEM parts and stuff like that.......sigh, thats y its so much better to just build your own computer. You learn stuff and know wat works and doesn't.

I guess he could be safe and just get an E7500, he should really look into overclocking it though, would make the performance much better and atleast try to be somewhat on par with the newer CPU'S

If he doesn't know that an AMD cpu won't work in a socket 775 then I wouldn't even mention the word overclock, haha.
