Hey, just wanted to get some opinions on the new Microsoft Zune HD. I have been thinking of getting one.

well from what i've read and personal opinion. The thing is sexy....the OLED is GORGEOUS and cannot be matched by the ipod touch. It is basically gonna be compared to the ipod touch in everything as in all the reviews out there also.

-Amazing media player because of OLED (Movies, Pictures, etc..)
-OLED is gorgeous and cannot be matched by the itouch screen
-Very good sound quality from what i've heard (better than ipod touch)
-Nvidia Tegra will allow some intense 3D applications/games
-Build quality seems good and the aluminum finish is a very nice touch, makes it feel like very very high quality (its like the new Macbooks type of aluminum i believe)
-UI interface is different and unique, is fairly good

Now here are the negatives
-App store sucks really badly so far and theres like nothing out there, no 3D games either so far that actually utilize the Nvidia Tegra
-The web browsing i heard was slower than the ipod touch in once case, like really alot slower but it might have been only that site, otherwise the web browsing should be fine
- OLED viewing is terrible in daylight, if you go out on a sunny day you won't be able to see the screen, its barely visible compared to the ipod touch
-There have been cases popping up of defective screens and the Zune bugging out basically/screen breaking

Conclusion:
Its a great media player and will absolutely be better for watching movies and those sorts. The sound quality is supposedly better than the iPod touches from the reviews i've read. The OLED screen is terrible in sunlight, there have been cases popping up of defective zune HD's. The APP STORE IS TERRIBLE and its not even like an app store (it is too early to decide but i will highly doubt it will match up to the ipod appstore, i dont think it will catch up).
Basically, if your into apps, games and an all in one media device, the ipod touch would be a better choice. If your into watching movies and music only with occasional web browsing, the Zune HD would be a better choice. Web browsing is an iffy and is probably fine on both devices even though the ipod touch one is said to be better. There was a video i watched of the Zune HD web browsing performance and it completely lagged behind the ipod Touch by like a good 40 seconds and it didn't load everything either. It may have only been that review site though.

here a little quote i found,
Zune - Media device first, everything else second.
so its a good music and video device, not an app whore.

I love my itouch between the apps, internet and all around compatibility its the best. Oh and I believe this says it all, thanks family guy.

I guess I'm not the rest of the world. I love my Zune. I've tried an ipod, and i didnt like it. I think the zune firmware is more user friendly and much more responsive. The only real issue i see in the zune HD is that it has a limited app library right now.

I've had my 32GB for just about a week now, and I must say, I'm very impressed.

It's sleek, sexy, fast, and just plain awesome.

Upsides: Fast, friendly interface, web browser is fast and smooth, software is pure awesome, sounds better than an iPod, light, feeling, touchscreen, beautiful OLED screen.

Downsides: Limited apps, but it's not designed for apps upfront, that's what the rumored Zune phone is going to be utilizing. OLED screen is a fingerprint nightmare, but that's fixed with a swipe of a cloth/shirt/papertowel, etc...

All in all, a very worthwhile purchase. You won't be disappointed.
