Beta Testing, Do you?

We are all gamers here, To some point. More are extreme than others. I was just wondering If any of us do Beta Testing. You dont have to tell us if you get paid for it, No bragging. Just say the games and your favorite beta testing communities you hang out at

Yeah, I'm in betas all the time. It's pretty much free entertainment. Also gives me an impression on whether I will get the game.

If it's a really bad game I'll break NDA and tell people to avoid it.

Nope dont really do betas Only beta I ever participated in was the one for Battlefield Heroes.

If it's an open beta I don't really care, 'cause it's like a glitchy demo. I'd rather just play a demo demo or watch someone play the finished product.

I have to say my best Beta experience was probably my longest: 7+ months in SWG beta. I really felt like I was helping that game improve, and believe it or not it really did get better, even though it's launch was, um...far from smooth.

I am currently signed-up to test Star Wars The Old Republic and Star Trek Online.

I've been in a few betas, namely Hellgate: London and WoW (The original, a long time ago ). As Sexy Beast said, they're pretty much free entertainment, and I don't mind writing up bug reports or suggestions for the developers. I also have 'testing' machines that I run beta (or unknown) versions of (Linux) software before deploying them onto production machines, but that doesn't count as games .

iv done beta with audiosurf and all of it's updates which i really liked and the dev took a lot of my input and implemented it in the game but that is the olny game i did a lot of beta stuff for but aside from games i test the early versions of the openSuSE Linux operating system and write bug fixes. and did the same for Amarok 2.x

Ive beta tested a few games: Quake Live and Battlefield Heroes. I really hope I get into the Star Trek Online Beta Test or the one for Diablo 3 or Starcraft 2....

I receive all closed betas. Then i give them away because i never test them. Some tend to be god awful for your computer.

Wow, thats alot of Beta Testing going n in this clan, I didnt expect so much. Along with Diomed, I too am going to be testing Star Wars The Old Republic. If you have the extra time, its a cool hobby. But so is coin collecting, and Free To Air Satellite.
