Well, Bumble-Bee and myself are now teamed together to hopefully bring a new high school themed map to the high school server. We are going to be designing it after the high school we both graduated from last year. Wish us luck

Are you sure thats a good idea?

Yea... mapping teams might be a good idea in theory, with work being split, but no, it probably wont work.
But it might, good luck.

I tried to make a map based on my highschool.. turns out I gave up on it..

And like stone said, teams don't work out too well outside of theory. The best way, that I can tell, would be to have one person working on the map so it's consistent and the other person working on "prefabs" and making custom textures etc

Just a thought, I do hope it works out well though.

I have about 5 or 6 different maps that I haven't finished because I dont like what I did with them.

I entirely agree, while you may be doing it with entirely innocent motives. It is still a very controversial topic and might be best to model it on a generic high school rather than specifically "your" highschool.

Lets just say its caused lots of debate in the past and its a topic best left alone imho

I'd just like to add that the current highschool map totally owns so maybe it would be best to leave it as it is. Though is the night version of it available somewhere so I could take a look at it?

Most communities will have problems trying to get stock maps in. I know of only one tf2 server that is entirely made out of community maps and the only reason people download them all is cause of the popularity of the owner. You gotta realize there is a lot of technical stuff going on behind the scenes and it's not as simple as just "Put this file there and watch the good times roll." Also, almost every map starts out during event night, I'm not management but that's how it usually works (or so I've been told) because they need to get a feel for how much people like the map before the permanently put it in rotation. It's nothing against community mappers and I think you're getting the wrong impression.

Alright honestly, I dont understand why I have to step in over a map.

• Any member can make a map, and have the chance at having it on a server if it is good enough (whether it be events, or one of the other servers)
• A map made by a "Leadership member" arent the only maps that get put on the server.
• If you are going to make a new highschool themed map, thats fine. If you want to modify the current one, ask Rogue before anything.
• Yes, people in the past have gotten in a good amount of trouble making a map based of THEIR OWN school. If you want to go ahead and take that risk, im not going to stop you - but it wont be put on our servers. If its a fictional highschool map, that would be fine.

There is no reason ANYONE should be arguing over a map in these forums. Honestly, its silly and ridiculous. I dont want to see anymore flaming, or arguing in this thread. I will leave it open for discussion, but the second it goes down the wrong road again it will be locked.

If you have any problems, or questions, you can take them up with me in ventrilo or steam if you feel the need.

A highschool new map though is in order. Imagine bigger, more windows to shoot from, and hostages and teachers that we get to "freeshoot"
