hmmm what should i buy

ok there,s 2 things i would like 2 buy but i can only afford 1 x-) LOL life is 2 hard.

ok the 1 thing is a samsung syncmaster flatscreen 2 my comp it has a response time on 5 milli seconds. My old scren is an lg screen on of those big boxy ones.

2 thing is a new cpu the quadcore with 2,0 ghz my old cpu is a dual core with 1,8 ghz.

Sooo here,s the 5 million dollar question wich one of these things should i pick

So you are basically asking wether you should upgrade your processor or get a second monitor.

If you want advice then you have to post your computer specs.
 
ok here,s my specs sorry if leave something out but i cant remember it all

cpu:dual core 1,8ghz
motherborad: msi neo p965
ram: 2 gigs
harddisk: 250gb (cant remember brand)
graphics card: GeForce 8800 OC
dvd driver/burner: 1 from samsung (cant remember model)
screen: 22 inc lg screen( the boxy kiend not a flat screen)
 
Buy the monitor your video card will love you for it. Quad Core can always come later when more apps and games support it but the beauty of a new monitor is like no other.
 
hmm yeah mayby i should cause ive seen friends with newer monitors than mee. But older graphics cards than i have and the colour looks way better on theire computers.
 
Ok, just so you know from now on the type of monitor you have is a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube aka the boxy kind).

So, is it safe to assume that your dual core is an Intell Core 2 Duo? Or is it perhaps a core duo, or an AMD Athlon X2?

What kind of memory do you have - type speed and timing.

If your 8800 an overclocked GTS or an overclocked GTX?

The modle of motherboard you gave is only a partial number - there are many MSI boards that start with neo p965 - they range from intel to amd from agp to pcix from 2GB max memory to 8GB.



The reason I ask is because it is important. I dont want to reccomend someone to get a quad core processor with their 8800GTX if they can only have 2GB max RAM for example.

dont know about the motherboard if its the ram slots youre thinking about then i got 4 of them
 
OK well then I think you should save your money and not buy anything. I mean, If you dont even know what Brand of processor your motherboard takes (let allone the modle, CPU socket Front Bus Speed, etc) then there is really no need to buy something that may not fit. It just hate giving upgrading advice to anyone who cant give full specs because #1 I strongly believe in balancing a computer (unlike Dell who would match a 8800GTZ OC SLI with a Celeron if they thought they could turn a profit by doing so) and also #2 if you dont know enough about the hardware you really need someone there in person showing you or helping you to learn more untill you can start to fend for yourself. But ahh wel thats just me.

Luckily for you there are tons of people who will gladly give you advice.
