In game voice commands

I find it odd that the Spy is the only class you can call out with a voice command. I can't count the number of times I wish I could just hit a button to yell out "Sniper!" so my teammates don't run around a corner and get popped. Does anyone else feel this way (Not just about a sniper command, but all class commands)?

I've often wished there was a "Sniper!!" command. Way too many times I get missed just to have a teammate go around the corner and get popped in the head.

I do have a mic and I do use it, but oftentimes it is not prudent to use the mic. Also, I find it creates more team communication with voice commands because people are not constantly trying to talk over each other if they can respond with something that talks and writes what you wish to say. For example, in CS 1 (NOT CS 1.6 as noob CS 1'ers call it :cursing::chair:) I used to be able to command an entire game with voice commands (Storm the front, stick together team, enemy spotted, get in position and wait for my go, reporting in, follow me, sector clear; the list could go on but I am trying to eliminate duplicates like affirmative vs Yes, etc). Also, when you used voice commands in CS it would show up on radar who the person was that was saying the command; this eliminates the problem of the follow up question, "Where is this going on? Who said that? etc.?" Bottom line is: Voice commands foster better team communication and comradery without distracting from the game or success of the team. But that is just my opinion:biggrin:

You guys must be playing on magical servers or something.

No one ever listens to anything that I say in game.

So much for spending money on a mic.

I sure am glad i got a mic for free!
but people sometimes listen, the problem is the time lag is MUCH larger for what you say in a mic compared to instantaneous voice commands, thus while you say "HEY SNIPER SPY BEHIND YOU!"

they are already seeing the freezecam when they hear it. so a good idea would be to record your own voice files, bind those, then use them to quickly say "OMG YOUR A NOOB GTFO" wait no... that's not right... maybe something more like "OMG DEJA GOT ME" no wait, that's too broad... give me a second...

Oh! i remember now, it's something like "SNIPER!" or "UBER HEAVY" or "KRITZ SCOUT" or "FOEFIGHTER IS SPY" or maybe even "KRITZ CHEESEBURGER OUTSIDE OF SPAWN"

but seriously, im no modder but i know theres a way to bind your own voice commands to keys. :)

(note: most of the above post is sarcasm and meant in a joking manner. if this offends you please leave a complaint at the complaint department, found at [email protected])

Yeah, the problem is that there is no actual voice command for 'Sniper!' or anything like that, they don't actually have sound files so your charachter cannot yell them, and if you put the sound files in on your own then other people can't here them (plus they aren't the actual actors). I think there should also be one that your charachter auto-yells when he sees, say an incoming Uber charged heavy or something like that.

Hmmm...Having the voice commands would be nice but no one would probably listen to them, just like when you say over the mic that there are stickies around the corner...People still go around the corner and die...

I use mic for info's like sentry, sniper... And i think its best cuz when people say sentry they say his location, and command can't do that..
