Hola all,

i just finished blocking out a new game play mode map called cp_reactor the orange part means it has not been finalized art wise. this is meant as a test for the game flow..nothing else.

hopefully garden can get this up on the fun server sometime and we can all check it out

map can be found
here.

instructions for playing

blu team must destroy the reactor found under red spawn area. avoid the laser doors, they will kill you. laser doors can be disabled by destroying the near by generator

red team must defend the reactor. laser doors will open for you (security cameras watch for you approach)

have fun!

I gave it a try, its an extremely interesting concept, and its not like any other TF2 map ive seen.

I like the idea of the laser doors, there an effective way of allowing RED to set up before they get rushed by BLU. I dont like that they can be destroyed in any order. A BLU scout can easily destroy gen. 3 withing seconds of the match starting, and open a path to the reactor before RED is ready to defend itself. Id suggest you make a shield around gen. 2 3 and 4 that only opens once the previous generator has been destroyed.

Another problem, the map is super confusing at first. I understand that you probably wanted it to be a challenge to locate the generators, but hiding them in a maze is not necessarily the best way to protect them (I now know where they are, defeating the purpose of the maze). Maybe you could create challenges that must be accomplished before a generator can be accessed. For example, a pair of buttons that must be pressed simultaneously to open a door to a generator, forcing BLU to work as a team and preventing a lone scout from taking down all the shields before RED can prepare for them.

This sounds pretty amazing - I'll definitely check it out when I next turn on TF2.

Titan Mode from 2142 style? or Am i reading it wrong

That was kinda what I got out of it too. Nothing wrong with Titan mode, I really enjoyed it. Just wish 2142 had the smoothness of BF2, that was what really held it back IMO.

As for the map, I'm very, very impressed. It's incredibly well done, and I would totally love to give this a go on the fun server.

Did you guys know that there is a secret room on this map that even has intel in it. Unfortunately it's not accessible unless you turn noclip on. And BTW, dragon, SpidEY and me weren't able to find the last generator. We found the generators for gates 1, 2, 3, 4, but we can't find the 5th one.

Sounds like a very cool concept, on the TF2 game Mod Fortress Forever they have a similar map. You need to shut down the reactor and then once it's off you can get the flag. I can't wait to play it!

It's somewhat enjoyable. I agree with the above ideas, but I think it should be buttons AND the maze. The maze is just fun, even though it'll lost it's effectiveness on regular players.

Loving the ingenuity Dragonhill, please keep wow-ing us with maps in the future!

On my way to test it now
