<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">The Call of Duty Division is asking for your help.

Saturday morning, the community manager for Infinity Ward dropped a bomb on the Call of Duty community during a podcast interview on BashandSlash.com stating there would be NO DEDICATED SERVERS and NO MOD SUPPORT in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Instead, you will be connected using an IW.net matchmaking system much like consoles use, essentially making everyone use each other as listen servers.
What this means for us is no dedicated server, no admins, no custom maps, essentially no community - basically everything that makes eGO great.

I am in awe of the lack of support for our favorite form of gaming.
If we want to play first person shooters on consoles, we would buy a console.

This is an outrage, and I am asking two things of people:

1. Click here to sign the petition.
It may or may not help, but it can't hurt to try.

2. If you have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, cancel it.
The one thing that might persuade Infinity Ward is money. As they say, "Money talks."

This is a great community, and we have tons of players. Let's see if we can get the folks at Infinity Ward to change their minds.

Even if you don't play Call of Duty, imagine if this were to happen to your favorite game or possibly the next itteration of your favorite, i.e., TF2, DoD:S or CS:S. Can you imagine your game without dedicated servers?

We had high hopes for this as a new addition to eGO.
Unless me make an impact now, this is the future of PC gaming.

Thank you,

Here are the snippets:

We're doing a lot on the backend to make the game accessible for everyone.
There is no delay for the PC version of MW2
There's prestige mode
Jason West at the MP event, said that he was dead on, on the matchmaking servers. We've been building a system on the backend called IW.NET.
You are completely reliant on IW.NET. There are no server lists. There are no dedicated servers.
You have private matches where you can customize the game
You cannot put MW2 on a dedicated server.
This is the first time we've ever done something like this and the team has huge plans for what IW.NET develops into.
Customizing your game...you have quite a few options in a private match
You're getting same game (as in Console), plus matchmaking and private match.
Server admin point of view, NO DEDICATED SERVERS

Anyways with 100k signature im sure they will probally patch in a console command that gives you dedicated servers or something, they are very unlikely to ignore it.

Highly unlikely. The dedicated server files was one of the main problems they had when releasing COD 4 and COD5. This is probably the best way to fix those issues at this point I'm guessing.

Your best bet is just to not buy it.

I do not pre-order, nor did I plan on getting it.

My signiture, however, made the petition 104631 Signatures strong!

woah!!!! that is cold to Call of duty fans.. i have played all of them and i would only play them on pc.... now this is just don't right cold... lazy developers not wanting to port stuff over to pc... sigh....

I think what they're really trying to do with this move is eliminate the piracy and anyone being able to run pirate enabled dedicated servers above anything else. Basically, it comes down to what all retarded game dev moves come down to, greed. even though they made more money than god on the last one and stood to make twice that much with this one, they couldn't bare the thought of anyone playing this game without paying for it, so they decided to just merc the entire PC community. For all we know, they're probably hoping this gives them the excuse to discontinue development for the PC altogether. then they can just concentrate on those big console bucks.

i wanted to buy CODWF2 to have something else beside TF2

but without dedicated servers....i dont see any reason why anyone should play it

I signed it yesterday evening when it was at 82,700. I will not be purchasing this game until dedi-servers are re-enabled. I hate console shooters for this reason, even L4D irks me with its matchmaking crapola.

Spread the word.

Is there a reason, besides trolling, that all the CSS Leaders are for matchmaking to the point of sporting a ridiculous signature? Trolling their own clanmates?

I'd expect more support for an issue that is essentially killing a division of this clan.

I would have to agree with your statement tiddy.

Crank up the price while dropping standard features? Really? lol

Sounds to me they are just interested in riding the fame from previous games & not in evolving the IP that has served them well in the past. MW3 prob wont even have multiplayer, lol

People are entitled to their own opinion.

Signed - no. 105,389

online games sans servers are tolerable for some games, like L4D or borderlands that support 4-to-8 players per instance, but MW2? C'mon, they can't be serious. Gotta wonder if IW even really plays the games they make if they can make a decision like this...mine as well say the PC version does not support multiplayer :(

Playing on highly moderated servers is essential for maintaining a fun gaming environment. I for one hate having to listen to kids screaming ethnic slurs on xbox live -- it makes me mute everyone, destroying any bastion of teamwork on objective based levels. I feel like there is a greater conspiracy going on here to undermine pc gaming in general in favor of xbox live pay dlc, no mods, and less freedom in general. This attempt to stifle piracy (ignoring the fact that it's easy on x360 for a moment) will drastically jack up the numbers of pirated copies being distributed over the internet, adding fuel for the argument to drop pc gaming entirely in favor of console exclusives. Paying $60 for a game that I only care about for the multiplayer experience and then ruining that experience by not allowing me to play on eGO servers results in me no longer paying for this game.

Order cancelled.
