<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">The Call of Duty Division is asking for your help.

Saturday morning, the community manager for Infinity Ward dropped a bomb on the Call of Duty community during a podcast interview on BashandSlash.com stating there would be NO DEDICATED SERVERS and NO MOD SUPPORT in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Instead, you will be connected using an IW.net matchmaking system much like consoles use, essentially making everyone use each other as listen servers.
What this means for us is no dedicated server, no admins, no custom maps, essentially no community - basically everything that makes eGO great.

I am in awe of the lack of support for our favorite form of gaming.
If we want to play first person shooters on consoles, we would buy a console.

This is an outrage, and I am asking two things of people:

1. Click here to sign the petition.
It may or may not help, but it can't hurt to try.

2. If you have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, cancel it.
The one thing that might persuade Infinity Ward is money. As they say, "Money talks."

This is a great community, and we have tons of players. Let's see if we can get the folks at Infinity Ward to change their minds.

Even if you don't play Call of Duty, imagine if this were to happen to your favorite game or possibly the next itteration of your favorite, i.e., TF2, DoD:S or CS:S. Can you imagine your game without dedicated servers?

We had high hopes for this as a new addition to eGO.
Unless me make an impact now, this is the future of PC gaming.

Thank you,

Here are the snippets:

We're doing a lot on the backend to make the game accessible for everyone.
There is no delay for the PC version of MW2
There's prestige mode
Jason West at the MP event, said that he was dead on, on the matchmaking servers. We've been building a system on the backend called IW.NET.
You are completely reliant on IW.NET. There are no server lists. There are no dedicated servers.
You have private matches where you can customize the game
You cannot put MW2 on a dedicated server.
This is the first time we've ever done something like this and the team has huge plans for what IW.NET develops into.
Customizing your game...you have quite a few options in a private match
You're getting same game (as in Console), plus matchmaking and private match.
Server admin point of view, NO DEDICATED SERVERS

woah!!!! that is cold to Call of duty fans.. i have played all of them and i would only play them on pc.... now this is just don't right cold... lazy developers not wanting to port stuff over to pc... sigh....

IW devs aren't 'lazy', they're trying to make it better by putting you in the servers with the least lag and the best matched skill level.

I'm very sorry about this thread. Since when, eGO became a place where members where asked to boycott anything? Remember the Valve/vanilla serves incident? What did eGO do? Keep populating the servers and keep the fun around them. Nothing about 'boycotting' Valve for this.

eGO is about fun, is about friends, is about mature. Keep it that way. Live and let live.

signed. not gonna take back my preorder tho. I might since Newegg's selling for 54 dollars instead of 60

Crank up the price while dropping standard features? Really? lol

Sounds to me they are just interested in riding the fame from previous games & not in evolving the IP that has served them well in the past. MW3 prob wont even have multiplayer, lol

Well.... the price thing was Activision. Really think IW could easily find themselves a better publisher

I have signed the position. In time, Infinity Ward may change my mind about buying this game, but as of this post, I will be keeping my money. For those of you planning on buying it, I will help out by signing the petition.

Yea...I hate to be the rude guy here but... you don't care, so you mind signing it for people who value the type of gameplay that started with PC Gaming?

My whole problem is the inability to enable mods in the game and have custom content.

Why would they do that? I understand when they do it on consoles but why on the computer? And I was looking forward to buying the game. I am getting annoyed by this blending of consoles and PC's. Consoles are getting internet browsers and original PC games that should stay only on the PC, while PC's just get this new nonsense.

got my signature, i play cod series somtimes with our fellow members, im mainly in the source division but cod still has my support, i love the mp setup on pc the way it is, having no dedicated servers and stuff is ridiculous.

I dont know how much it helped but I signed the petition, good luck you guys...Hope it works out in the end...

Even though I really wasn't going to play MP anyways because CoD 4 just didn't seem like a good MP experience overall (never played the others), /signed #112616. I've bought all the PC ones ever since I saw the Demo at Quakecon 2003. I have fond memories of playing CoD 1 SP on a big screen TV with my Shuttle's GeForce 4 MX 128MB onboard graphics.

Eh, I had a long reply typed out but I figure it's better to just have a smaller post.

singed just to support. I do not play CoD but I am with you all on this.
Lets make our voice be heard.

That is absolutely horrible, signed petition, stopped my parents from ordering it.

Don't make this another L4D.

Signed,
This is ridiculous who would think of this stupid idea? Wow, I am never buying it if they do this

I signed the petition.

I can't believe they would even consider doing this.
