<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">The Call of Duty Division is asking for your help.

Saturday morning, the community manager for Infinity Ward dropped a bomb on the Call of Duty community during a podcast interview on BashandSlash.com stating there would be NO DEDICATED SERVERS and NO MOD SUPPORT in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Instead, you will be connected using an IW.net matchmaking system much like consoles use, essentially making everyone use each other as listen servers.
What this means for us is no dedicated server, no admins, no custom maps, essentially no community - basically everything that makes eGO great.

I am in awe of the lack of support for our favorite form of gaming.
If we want to play first person shooters on consoles, we would buy a console.

This is an outrage, and I am asking two things of people:

1. Click here to sign the petition.
It may or may not help, but it can't hurt to try.

2. If you have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, cancel it.
The one thing that might persuade Infinity Ward is money. As they say, "Money talks."

This is a great community, and we have tons of players. Let's see if we can get the folks at Infinity Ward to change their minds.

Even if you don't play Call of Duty, imagine if this were to happen to your favorite game or possibly the next itteration of your favorite, i.e., TF2, DoD:S or CS:S. Can you imagine your game without dedicated servers?

We had high hopes for this as a new addition to eGO.
Unless me make an impact now, this is the future of PC gaming.

Thank you,

Here are the snippets:

We're doing a lot on the backend to make the game accessible for everyone.
There is no delay for the PC version of MW2
There's prestige mode
Jason West at the MP event, said that he was dead on, on the matchmaking servers. We've been building a system on the backend called IW.NET.
You are completely reliant on IW.NET. There are no server lists. There are no dedicated servers.
You have private matches where you can customize the game
You cannot put MW2 on a dedicated server.
This is the first time we've ever done something like this and the team has huge plans for what IW.NET develops into.
Customizing your game...you have quite a few options in a private match
You're getting same game (as in Console), plus matchmaking and private match.
Server admin point of view, NO DEDICATED SERVERS

I think that an IW.NET member should join, and read this entire thread, just to see how much the PC gaming world is dissapointed -.-

From Fudzilla:

Despite some of the recent negative press regarding the PC version of the game, neither Activision nor Infinity Ward seem too worried about the impact it will have on actual sales. The majority of the sales of the title will come for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. While the PC COD community is perhaps the most vocal of COD players, their sales will only make up a small percentage of the number of actual copies sold across the platforms.

IOW, we aren't worth as much as the consoles players to them and they won't lose enough from our exit to impact them in any real way so screw off. IW has lost a consumer for life with this decision.

i'm sorry. i really do feel bad.

i have a console and am getting a perfect game, but i wouldve gotten it for PC if the support was a bit better :(

They betray the PC community, and it seems some other developers are falling in line. I fear for the worst, because I sure hope for horrible things to happen to IW right now. And I really mean it when I mean "terrible things".

It just kicks me in the balls to see such a betrayal.

signed, but we r gonna have like a mw2 division right?

Its like L4D. There is no way for people to really get together with matchmaking systems. You can only get small parties.

Dedicated servers allows lots of people to get together and play together. Without dedicated servers this isn't possible for eGO, or any other group/community for that matter.

I signed the petition as well, but that just goes to show that IW just doesnt care about the port that really got them on the board in the 1st place, which is the PC. The PC gaming realm will most likely never die, esp since graphics are looking so much better. Also you might notice that games on PC tend to cost a lil less than on consoles. Theres already been a story brought up about the price of games, but thats obviously not what this thread is about. Until IW gets their act together and creates dedicated servers for MW2, ill never buy the game. I still dont have the 1st COD:MW game, but thats just cause im a cheapskate & am willing to wait for the game to go down in price. If IW wants to go down the console lane from now on, then fine, but they will start losing alot of the $$ because they will be losing fans, but right now, I doubt they care much about that. It saddens me that a great company like that is willing to drop the community that they 1st started with.

Scroll down and read the "Reception" section. If you don't want to, here's the play-by-play.

Reviews for the console version have been overwhelmingly positive. We saw this one coming of course, the main criticisms being the shortness of the single player campaign and the lack of balance in the killstreak bonuses. otherwise, the single player story has received massive acclaim and the console multiplayer has also been noted for its good implementation.

Meanwhile, the PC version has received largely negative reviews. Per these citations, Modern Warfare 2's PC version has received [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Modern-Warfare-2-Pc/dp/B00269QLJ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1257881399&sr=8-1]an average of 1.5 stars out of 5 from 33 user reviews on Amazon.com[/ame], [ame=http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/modernwarfare2?q=modern%20warfare%202#critics]an average of 1.4 out of 10 from 380 user reviews on Metacritic[/ame], and [ame=http://pc.ign.com/objects/142/14280895.html] an average of 2.2 out of 10 from 274 user reviews on IGN[/ame]. Additionally, I think [ame=http://rr.pc.ign.com/rrobj/pc/object/14280895/]this[/ame] says a lot. Ladies and gentlemen, however things go from here, we have now made a splash in a way that is hard for anybody to ignore, when the most hyped game of the year has pages and pages of ZERO OUT OF TEN on one of the largest game review sites in the world.

I'm satisfied.

sorry for the double post, links broke. It has an average 1.5 out of 5 from 33 amazon reviews, 1.4 out of 10 from 380 Metacritic reviews, and a 2.2 out of 10 from 274 IGN reviews.

I'm still in shock that they would even consider not having dedicated servers. Thats one of the best things about PC games...

What a bunch of crap. I couldn't imagine the game being played any other way! This will keep me on COD4 ...won't buy it!

Let's double those numbers, and I'll be satisfied. This is one of those instances I'll never forget. I never intended to get this game, thinking it was a waste of money for yet another "modern warfare" game when we've already got so many (cheaper and just as worthwhile) others. But this is just over the top.

Speaking of the top, I feel very conflicted. I would like to say "I hate IW", but this is not true. 99% of the people working for the company are extremely talented artists, programmers, and other game developers who want nothing more than their benefits and their paycheck. But the decision making sacks of flesh up at the top...

Hahaha...phew. Almost lost it there for a moment.

Maybe the user reviews are so low because the only ones voting against it are the ones not preoccupied playing it :P
