Okay, I setup the linux SrcDS on my linux box which has DMZ mode via my router.

The DMZ works, I can open my IP and get to the webserver I have running on the linux box but I can't find find OR connect to it to play CS:S

Loaded the server with:

# ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike -hostport 27015 +maxplayers 40 +map de_dust2
Adding master server 72.165.61.136:27013
Adding master server 68.142.72.250:27011
L 10/22/2009 - 07:25:13: World triggered "Round_Start"
Connection to Steam servers successful.
VAC secure mode is activated.

and then tried

# ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:27015 +maxplayers 40 +map de_dust2 (could not connect to Steam servers w/ this command)

and then

# ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx +port 27015 +maxplayers 40 +map de_dust2 (could not connect to Steam servers w/ this command)

My server is working I just can't connect or see it on the list or anything, anyone else have this problem before and fix it?

Alright, so you've made the dedicated server, but the problem is you can't connect to it from another computer?

Exactly, sorry if my OP was kinda jumbled I tried to include a lot of information.

I know that this has nothing to do with my router setup as the webserver I have setup on the same box works fine and I connect. http://99.6.242.14/

What I don't understand is why the dedicated server isn't showing up because everything is setup correctly. Current versions are being used, autoupdate checks every time I turn the server on, etc etc.

I'm at the point where I might just end up paying for a 10slot server

Web servers and game servers use different ports. Web servers use port 80, while the game server you have set up for port 27015. Have you made sure the router has port 27015 open?

Also, do you have a firewall running on your host box? It would also need to allow traffic on port 27015.

Router has the box set on DMZ, DMZ = all ports open

No firewall that I know of, had no problem setting up the webserver

Okay, I fixed a problem with RCON not establishing and now I can SEE my server.

screen -A -m -d -S CSSS ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust2 +maxplayers 40 -autoupdate -ip 99.6.242.14 -port 27015

Loads up fine.
Can't find the server on port 27015
Found the server on port 27016 and can connect

# netstat -lntup | grep srcds
tcp 0 0 99.6.242.14:27015 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 7597/srcds_amd
tcp 0 0 99.6.242.14:27016 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 7641/srcds_amd
udp 0 0 99.6.242.14:27015 0.0.0.0:* 7597/srcds_amd
udp 284 0 99.6.242.14:27016 0.0.0.0:* 7641/srcds_amd
udp 284 0 99.6.242.14:27020 0.0.0.0:* 7597/srcds_amd
udp 284 0 99.6.242.14:27021 0.0.0.0:* 7641/srcds_amd

udp 0 0 99.6.242.14:26902 0.0.0.0:* 7641/srcds_amd
udp 0 0 99.6.242.14:27005 0.0.0.0:* 7597/srcds_amd
udp 0 0 99.6.242.14:27006 0.0.0.0:* 7641/srcds_amd

Changed my iptables several times and finally found something that worked.

# sudo iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport 27000:27050 -j ACCEPT
# iptables -L
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpts:27000:27050

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination

It doesn't like showing up on the MasterList half the time but it's there now and you can connect! WOO

*** PROBLEM SOLVED!

NOTE:

I have to flush the iptable everytime before starting the server or else it won't connect to the steam servers.

If the iptable is flushed(empty) steam servers will connect and it will show on MasterList without any problems but you won't be able to conenct.

If I add the ports to the iptable after it has connected to the MasterList it will not show half the time but you can connect and play on it.

Kind of annoying

In the future if you need an easy GUI that can do all the IPTables stuff for you, Firestarter is great. It's very simple to use and speeds up the process.

And also if you ever need to test to see if it's your iptables that is limiting your connection you can do and ipf -D which disables the ipfilters. To re-enable you just do an ipf -E.

my linux box is running command line only, no need for gui's taking up processes on the server XD

Thanks for the ipf suggestion Ill look into it! :D
