anyone run a video card with this kind of memory? micro center is selling nvidia gefore gtx 295 for $450. how does this run, never knew they made video cards this high now

I have had my nvidia gtx 295 since March and I love it. It runs great in everything that I have played. Crysis Warhead at 90 fps, Fallout 3 90+ fps, DODS 240+ fps, all maxed out. On line lag is almost non existent, with less than a second slight pulls when others complain of major slowdown. My old computer was a 3.00 Pentium 4 and ATI 3850 Agp card. Lag killed me at times. My 295 idles hotter than many cards at 50/48, and in game averages 62/60. These temps are all normal for the 295. The reviewers loved this card and so do I. It was worth every penny. Prices may drop soon with ATI releasing newer cards.

The GTX 295 is 2 GPU's in one card. The memory is not shared, therefore it is the equivalent of an 896MB card(1792/2=896). Aside from that, it is a great card, however, I myself would rather have a GTX 285(preferably 2GB).

I have the Evga GTX 285 2gb! i love it to death. but i was actually thinking about trading up to a GTX 295? Would their be a reason not to?

lol where have you been???
they make single cards that have 2gb of memory now

ehh i say stay away from getting a GTX 295 now. Go for the ATI 5870 or crossfire 5850. Two 5850 will crush the GTX 295 i believe and it will be only like $70 more. The ATI 5870 beats the GTX 295 in some games but it also loses in games that support dual card solutions, but its got great performance considering it is like $360

I am personally gonna wait for the 5850x2/5870x2 cards to come out, am gonna choose one or the other based on performance and price. They will be freaking crazy fast.

sounds like a plan.

Indeed :) the 5850x2/5870x2 are expected to be cheaper than buying two single cards and crossfiring them. They are expected to be something like from $400-600 im thinking more like $500-600 though, not sure though, they say its gonna be cheaper and then drive down the price of single 5870's/5850's.

I heard the 2gb ones are causing people trouble?

And yeah, 2gb's have been out for a long time. 4870 x2 was the first I think?

500-600 bucks o.0
that is way to much for a computer upgrade!
why would you need that right now anyway? lol
2 gig?!?! thats insane and unneeded.

My friend owns one and it runs pretty loud, but makes up for performance.
