Didn't spend a lot of time on this, was messing around making some 3D text for something else and decided to throw together this quick wallpaper for everyone, since a lot of people like that simple reflective look so many logos are sporting these days...

Gonna do another wallpaper with this same 3D block of text but its gonna be a LOT more detailed... Will post when done, but for now... Enjoy this if you wish.

a simple 3D effect in photoshop is pretty easy...

get your base text, duplicate and rotate it a little, then just keep duplicating it and moving each copy down 1 pixel at a time... merge all the duplicates into one layer (should be a darker shade than the original text) and rotate them back in the opposite direction to re-align them with the original text layer and put them under it...

that will give your text the beginning of a 3d sort of look to start with. build on that with lighting effects and using the transform tools or liquify or whatever on the darkened "depth" layer and you can make some nifty text pretty quickly

other programs like Illustrator, Xara3D, etc... are capable of rendering 3D text and other objects pretty easily too.

Looks nice but the reflection isn't right, not all edges are touching which means you have a very weird surface it's reflecting on :)

Youre never happy Jv :-\

This was only like 30 seconds of work after making the intial 3D text... the final wallpaper will be a lot more detailed... textured, holes/erosion in the text, itll be casting a shadow on the background/surface rather than a reflection... that whole reflective look is entirely overused and unoriginal... i just threw this up for a filler if anyone wanted a simple wallpaper

I'm simply giving constructive criticism...
