Program Files vs Program Files (x86)

Is there a difference? x86 is where all of my files default to. But why is it there?

The 'Program Files' folder is where all of your 64bit applications will be installed. All your 32bit applications will go to the 'Program Files (x86)' folder.

Most programs use 32bit so you'll see most of your stuff in the x86 folder. But, if it gives you the option of using 64bit, then do it.

Great advice. Always opt for 64 bit, only case in which I wouldn't suggest it is if the program is in beta for 64 bit, but stable for 32.
