Good point, changed the title.

That's a different offer though from this address: http://www.win741.com/, that's for home premium rather than professional.

^^ happened to me

my school authorized 1 copy of win7pro for me, which is on my main pc, so i ordered the student version to install on my laptop; what a headache. It downloads as an .exe, unpacks into the install files, but you can't run it / it's screwy / won't let itself turn into a bootable .iso because it needs to be started from an already installed os other than win7RC which is on my laptop atm...i'll have to dig out my vista (sic) to install it...only I'm hearing it has to be 64bit vista to install the 64bitWin7, and my laptop had vista32bit...ah bill, he likes his little jokes

if you get the student offer and opt to get the disk shipped to you (which is well worth it imo) it is the full version, not just the upgrade from previous versions of windows. so you can do a clean install from a clean harddrive allowing you to choose either 32/64 bit

This might help.

I am installing the upgrade on my dads pc from the upgrade student thing, but I did a clean install of vista and just immediately installing win 7...

Right now I am installing the sp1 for vista and then installing win 7 after that. I will come back to report when it is finished
