This literally happened overnight. I could play fine last night, now I get kicked from our Crossfire server every 1 minute for having an unallowed program/driver. I changed NOTHING. I was sleeping while this happened. What do I do?

(Punk-buster is awful...)

...what is the driver it's saying you have? Have you searched to see if you have that file/driver?

Try to uninstall PB and reinstalling it? As a last resort, you could reinstall CoD (back up profile first of course)

Scan your system for viruses and malware to start. I don't play CoD4(but have before) but make sure you have the lastest PB release. I agree with you, PB is horrible.

It's a huge error that happens often to many players, so don't be alarmed. Punkbuster is a complete fail. It's only kicked me for it once when I was using Fraps.

Most of the time I get kicked for "Ignoring MD5Tool Quering" And noone knows what that is. But, at least 90% of the people on the server I play on have been kicked for that.

Just update your PB and if it still happens, talk to an admin and tell them to update the servers PB. That's where most of the problems come from.

Ignoring MD5Tool means that you are actually trying to or in the process of hacking, namely, the computer is trying to turn/disallow PB from working on their computer.

However, you receive this alert when you may have high packet loss or there's not enough network bandwidth working through. Most people receive the error for this reason.

And atypically, it's client-side, not server-side. But it doesn't hurt to get both checked.

Well the MD5 thing only happens on the server I normally play on. So, that's why I figured it had to be the servers PB because mines always up to date.

And since MW2 is steam...that means no PB, right?

Anti-Cheat will be VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat System), not PunkBuster now. I think this comes around because of the lack of dedicated server support. If there's no dedicated servers to host/run, and the games will be run by a central node, such as Steam, it makes sense to use the Anti Cheat system in place on Steam, than to try and make PB compatible with it.

But let's not open that kettle of fish and start another drawn out topic about no servers for MW2.

That disallowed driver/program thing happened to me like last week. It didn't let me play for 4 days, and then let me play again.

Horrible PB fail.
