Borderland Problems

Tried to delete via the add/remove but it just starts to install the program.... I'm at a lost again :/

Found a possible lead on the steam forums, give it a shot...

The VC Redistributible Packages can be found in:
SteamsteamappscommonborderlandsPrerequisites

vcredist_x64.exe for 64-Bit (2.26MB)
vcredist_x86.exe for 32-Bit (4.02MB)

Try and install it from there.

See what error message it gives if you run one of those. Then you can check out what Microsoft says the error means.

Tried that too but it pops up "Side by side configuration is incorrect."

Try uninstalling the old version of the redistributable first through windows add/remove programs.

no dice. It pops up on the add/remove program but when I click it to uninstall it starts to install the program... At a lost right now grrrrrr.

Ugh, the fix for that involves removing all of the VC files, then editing registry to remove all traces of it. That or re-installing your O/S. Anyway, you can blame Microsoft instead of Steam or Gearbox now.

Though some people were able to reinstall the old VC 2005 redistributable, then re-reinstalling the 2008 one to fix it.

You're going to have problems with other programs and games if you leave it like it is though.

Seems to be going that way. funny thing is I was able to install the old VC 2005 but when it came to the 2008 no dice. Ya I wont be reinstalling my OS so its time for me hang up old vista and move over to Ubuntu or the nature... Just sick of Vista at the moment

Well, if you're a student, you can get a windows 7 upgrade for $30.

I'm debating buying Windows 7. I had it pre-ordered but I lost my job so I had to cancel it.

Is it possible to play Borderlands on Linux using WINE or emulation software?

The blogonettubeintersphereweb says yes.

Bahh broke down and reloaded Vista. Now time to reload everything.... On a side not duel booting Unbutu or how ever it is spelled :P

OK re downloading Borderlands to test out everything went ok. Also on a side note I already have my windows fully updated. With Net frames 3.5 so. We will see if this time everything goes all well.

PROBLEM SOLVED AT LAST!!!

It seemed it was the Net Frames 3.5 that was causing all the problems...

All it took was a complete reinstall of Vista 64bit to fix it :/

Kinda like.... Lighting a campfire with 1Ton of Napalm...

Yeah if I'm gonna have to start all over with installing everything I'm just gonna go with linux.

right now I'm trying to figure out how to get Borderlands working using WINE or Cedega. I'm failing hard so far.
