So Ive got an OLD! laptop laying around and was wanting to put XP on it and just use to mess around with and possibly give to my sister to have. Probably is Im not going to invest much money in it seeing as its this old. The CD Rom that came with it no longer works and was wondering if anyone know where I could get a good guide or how to do an Install? Ive got a USB hard drive converter so that is a possibility but anytime you install on another comp the settings are all messed, least anytime ive done it.

Looking forward to what everyone comes up with.

Thanks

there's not a lot you can do with laptops after manufacturing because of the compact size of them, unless you really know what your doing. But you can easily add more ram, which shouldn't be too expensive because that laptop is most likely DDR1. If you need a new cd drive definetly go check out newegg's selection, then for the guide hop over to Tomshardware.com, the guys on that forum can help you out and give you tutorials for pretty much any problem you could ever face with a computer

you can do a USB-Key install (I had to do one a few years back...)

don't quite remember how i did it but I did use Hiro's Boot CD for help with booting my laptop from the USB-Key
