New Ubuntu is out!

Downloading the iso now to try it out. Anyone else making the switch? (I'm duel-booting Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.04 currently.

I never could decide if I liked Suse or Ubuntu better.
This new release looks pretty solid, but I'm avoiding dualboot just because I don't have much use for Linux since I already use Windows. There are no real advantages, in my case, that make me want to load it on my box.

Boots quicker. No spyware. No viruses. Easy to update. Free software.

The ONLY reason I haven't switched outright is because most games depend on proprietary Windows drivers.

However, for general internet/work/photo editing/music/etc, it excels.

I have YET to see it lock up, freeze, or give any form of an error.

Plus, they'll send you a free CD of it which you can try without even installing it!

Oke sounds cool. Maby i can use unbunto for my homework and when i wanna check my email fast or wanna post something on this forum...

how do i make a bootable-installation disk with unbunto on it?

it's ubuntu and all you need to do is download the iso and burn it to a dvd

There's a few ways. Remember to choose between 32 and 64 bit.

1. Request a free CD (Easiest). https://shipit.ubuntu.com/

2. Download the iso. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

3. Bittorrent. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#bt (Ignore Wubi on this page, it's on the CD and requires download time anyway.)


Ubuntu can make your system duel-boot automatically if you want via Wubi. Just use the Wubi installer, set the amount of space to give Ubuntu, and there you go.

You can also boot from the CD WITHOUT INSTALLING, just to try it out a bit. It won't be as quick as having it on the disk, but it's good if you're not sure and just want to test it without making any changes.
