Ati 5970/5950

They scale alright, but they're being slightly bottlenecked, AMD needs to release their six and eight core processors soon, then I can drop one in and add a little bit more memory and it'll stop the bottlenecking.

are those going to be AM3 or AM3+ or something?
and how are they being bottlenecked? what is your processor, and over 4GB of memory is just fine. hell, 3 is just fine

lol he has 4x5870.........hes gonna bottleneck alright, i don't even know how high you have to get your CPU to in order to not bottleneck on any game.

As for whoever asked about more the reason to get a HAF 932. Yes get it, the Cooler Master HAF 932 is probably one of the best cases out there, it definitely has just about the best airflow from what i've read and from personal use. Im happy i have one now because of how long these cards will be.

The pricing on the 5970/5950 are expected to be somewhat cheaper, they definitely aren't expected to exceed $600 and the lowest they say is around $400..........if these things go for $400 they are gonna sell out fast and i will definitely pick one up on release date. I actually plan on waiting to see if any non-reference ones come out with some nice coolers and such.

yea my bad.........but its the case in this situation, its very easy to bottleneck. Easier than most people expect. She is just running a beast system and the CPU can't keep up, unless maybe get an i7 975 or something and overclock the crap out of it.

The 5870 is $400, how in the world would you expect a card that is double the $400 one to be the same price?

The 5950 will probably be around $400.....im just re-stating what i read. The whole point of it being that cheap is to drive down the price of the single cards. Its also cheaper for ATI to manufacture the 5950/5970 and sell than individual 5850/5870. The whole scheme ATI is going for is that they will sell these 5950/5970 cheaper than buying 2 of the cards alone and hopefully drive prices down.
$400 seems to be the cheapest hypothetical price, i doubt it will be $400 though. They are really expected to be $500 and $600 for the 5950/5970 respectively.
 
I run a AMD AM3 Socket 965 phenom x4 (Base 3.4 gighz, OC'd to 4.5 water cooled) It bottle necks as of right now, I really need AMD to release their 6 and 8 core processors, heck. I'd love if they would release em with a dual socket config, kinda like the 1207 FX before quads were released) So I could run a 12 or 18 core config, that would definitely stop any bottlenecking and slow downs. I probably wont purchase 2 (or even 4 depending on if they can release the 6 and 8 core processors soon enough to support the 8 way crossfire) 5970's until they can release a faster (or more cores) processor, or I can afford phase cooling so I can get this one up to 5+

Old but the prices they said were correct so im gonna guess the price they think of the 5870x2 is right. It makes sense though, anything over $600 for a 5870x2 is pretty steep and most likely won't sell. The 5850 are like $100 cheaper than the 5870 so that is why I think they will be around $400, posts i've read also suspect it maybe being in the $400 range but it could also be $500, nobody knows. We will just have to wait and see.

They should be coming out sometimes this month.

NOT A NVIDIA FANBOY, I'm using a HD 4770 right now.

But in theory ATI cards SHOULD always win on paper, look at the amount of RAM, RAM type, speeds and they should win. But Nvidia always has better drivers which takes better use of there products somehow. And it's true.

If ATI had better drivers then would destroy even more than now, these cards are vicious now but I know for a fact Nvidia is coming up with something more powerful than ever.

this is very true. ATI needs to start making better drivers that really take advantage of that beastly power.
 
Indeed.......but there are different features that Nvidia has to help them make them faster. I just like ATI right now because they give great performance for a good budget.

Im just so anxious for the 5970/5950 to come out and see the performance they bring, im like going crazy.
