Fine. You are in a two-floored concrete shack with no windows. You are downstairs with three switches. Upstairs are three lightbulbs. You may only go upstairs once. Can you find out which switch connects to which bulb, for all three?

Even if, all you know if that a light bulb is on. You don't know which one, and you don't know which the other switches go to. All you know is that the lights work.
I said going upstairs, do you can assume its a curved stairwell, so you cannot go "halfway up the stairs" to look.

I leave all the switches off, walk upstairs, set my cell phone to record video of the hallway where all three rooms are, tie a string to it, then go back downstairs and toggle each switch on and off. Then I pull my cellphone back down the stairs, rewind the video, and watch it.


Or if you're going to strip me of all my worldly gear (which I'm sure you would, cause you sound like a shmott guy), I'll flip on two switches, wait a few minutes, flip one of those off, then run upstairs to one of the dark rooms and feel if the lightbulb is hot.

Cold unlit lightbulb = switch that was off from the start
Warm unlit lightbulb = switch that I turned on, then off
Lit lightbulb = switch that's on
