I'm trying to decide between win7 pro and ultimate. Does any1 that has Ultimate use the bit locker feature. If so, do you find it useful or more of a hassle? Would it slow does access to files? Any input would be appreciated

In all honesty, if you don't know that you need/want Ultimate, then you don't. Professional is more than enough for 99% of people. Those few that need the extra featue(s?) of Ultimate know who they are.

Well from his post he knows what he wants.. that's why he asked about a certain feature...

Unfortunately I've only used home so far, since I don't plan on using a domain on my gaming systems I don't need to the extra features myself.

If I build a workstation, I'll use pro on it because I'll join it to my domain and all that.

if you are going to be having data on your computer that you don't want people to see, you might find it useful. however, you can get other encryption software for free or at least much cheaper than the difference in price that will do a better job.
one consideration is bitlocker will slow down your computer some, which may affect performance in some games and processor-intensive programs.

In my opinion, home premium is more than enough. I hate all the extra features ultimate comes with. Just get home premium and the Office Suite.

Wait...what?

If he knew what he wanted he wouldn't be asking in the first place.

He asked about a certain feature. That feature(BitLocker) is something that if he needed, he would know he needed it.

Windows 7 Ultimate is even more so for the most serious users than Vista Ultimate was. Windows 7 Pro is like the equivalent of Vista Ultimate. Users that need Windows 7 Ultimate wouldn't be asking tech questions on edgegamers.org(no offense to the community, it's great).

Perhaps I worded the question wrong and need to be more direct. Does bit locker consume a noticeable amount of processing power and have any users run into any problems/glitches while using it?

I'm not using edgegamers as a sole deciding factor about which version to purchase, just getting some input from people that have used it.
