Why start playing TF2?

Hey guys:P

Maby a hard to answer question... maby not..
but I gone buy TF2 the day after tomorrow. (i think).
I played the trial onces... but i didnt like it becaus i died to much.
Can somebody... give me a reason to play TF2?:P
WHY is it such a good game, and why do sow many people play it?

And another question... do we have deadmatch servers on TF2 like in DOD:S?
Sow that you dont have to wait till everbody is dead?

You never have to wait till everyone is dead unless it's Arena. As for why to play TF2...because it's one of the funnest games in the last few years. Even after a year and a half the characters make me laugh, and the way the game is when there's some teamwork is awesome!
 
If you don't like dying a lot, play medic. They're always needed and very helpful.

And yes, you won't have to wait for everyone to die unless it's an arena map. Respawn times vary from instant to about 15 seconds.
 
TF2 has a bunch of different game modes to suit your style of play. Capture the flag, capture points, attack/defend maps, Payload maps (escorting), and arena style or king of the hill.
As far as dying a lot, any game is going to take a certain degree of getting used to. With the 9 different classes, they are easy to learn, but some are very difficult to master and each of them plays very differently. My advice is to keep playing and experiment with things. Start in smaller populated maps so you have a little more breathing room to try things out and it wont be as chaotic.

We dont have "deathmatch" servers, but TF2 works on respawn times. Depending on the map you have to wait anywhere from 5-15 seconds to respawn again after you die. Only arena matches are single-elimination like counterstrike, otherwise you respawn just like DOD.
 
TF2 is going to be a difficult transition for those of us who played fps with respawn times. I only play arena when i play tf2 because i'm so used to it being there. Don't buy TF2 at full price because they always have special offers on it (orange box for $5 deal/ halloween $2.50 deal). They are trying really hard to keep it alive.

It is alot of fun I used to Play DoDs all the time and it was an easy transition to start playing this game. It is alot of fun and i never and mean never have regretted the purchase of this game.



To have alot of fun make sure to play in the events. They are the Best!!!
 
Alot of fun. Also something different.

Prepare to be addicted if you start playing. (Well, I get addicted on most new games I start playing, but I get the worst addictions on the best FPS games)

Do you guys exually have a real standard class? sow... are you guys always the same.. like medic or something like that? Or do you change alot what you are, like weapons in DOD:S and CSS, you never use the same?

(hope you guys understand that english:P)
 
Usually the successful teams have a mixture of all the classes (or nearly all) depending on what the map is. Different classes are better at different things so depending on the circumstances I play different classes.
 
You can also change your class during while you wait to respawn. If you change your class while in the spawn area as well, there is no penalty for doing so. Meaning you won't die.
 
It's definitely much different than DOD:S. While you may die a lot, it's part of the game, really. TF2 is much more fast paced than DOD:S. I tried playing DOD:S and having played TF2 for so long, I found the transition to be a bit too much overdemanding so I stopped playing it.
 
I think the class picks you...cliche I know. But I started out as heavy and I love heavy...I'm still a decent heavy but I started playing around with spy and now its all I play. I still know a lot of people that play all the different classes and are still good. Just find a class you like to play...or maybe it will find you ;)
 
Dying is a big part of the game until you become a better player and then the fun begins. Dont give up on it just cuz you die, practice practice practice and it will pay off.
 
You know, TF2 (for me atleast) was a bad game when i first started. I always got owned, never got any kills. So i left it alone for a few months. Then i gave it another go, after after getting a few kills found myself hopelessly addicted.

now i can't imagine myself ever NOT liking it.

But what Slinger said is kinda true, just try stuff out a see what fits. if you like camping tight areas you might be demo, if you love capping or just being speedy be a scout. if you love that cool crit sound and the awesome feel of headshots, you might be sniper. The first class I ever played was pyro (first class i played and did well as) I was a complete W+M1, and was already 5 weekes into playing before i figured out what the airblast was. After a while i got bored and moved on to other classes, but now after most of my gameplay is pretty well rounded, I realized that Pyro was the class i had the most fun as. So now i play Pyro nearly exclusively. (also, Airblast let's you reflect projectiles coming toward you and toss people around, try it out it's fun!)

Oke thanks for the responce guys. Hopefully i can get a cheap TF2. BEcaus i dont have a creditcard so i cant order from steam:(. Maby i'll find one in shops :P
