New Monitor

So I'm about to order a new alienware desktop and I need a new monitor to go with it. I wanted to get some help with my purchase because I really don't know what to buy. I really like Samsung but my current monitor which is a Samsung 19 inch is a piece of crap. I have these white lines that go vertically up and down and I was very disappointed in the monitor, so I don't want to take that route again.

Requests for monitor:

-I want a monitor much bigger than my current one (19" Samsung)
-I want hdmi capability


It will be used mostly for gaming and watching movies and that's about it. I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I don't really have a budget but I don't want to spend more than 300 dollars on a monitor unless it can heat up hot pockets or do something outrageous.

I recommend this monitor to most people who are looking in your category. It has 2ms response for gaming, HDMI w/speakers for HD cable/game consoles, 24 inch size, and 1080p resolution. My friend just bought this monitor for his dorm room at Columbia and has been very pleased so far.

its funny gen, I was looking at that exact monitor earlier.

I would rather not have speakers on my monitor since I already have speakers and I usually have my headset on but I am sure there is an option to turn off the sound on the monitor.

How good are asus monitors? Are they reliable?

Wow I never knew Asus made monitors. I knew about mobo's but monitors? I think it would be safe to say that because of the companys name you can bet the monitor would be reliable. Out the four PC's I've built myself I've always used Asus mobo's and still have all of them, oldest is like 5 or 6 years old and I'm sure it still works. Look into some Viewsonic monitor as well, I've never had issues with them and the make top brand stuff. WWW.Viewsonic.com

The speakers are actually a feature because you can run a gaming console/HD cable and hook up your headset, headphones, or speakers to the 3.5mm audio out on the monitor (green connector) and essentially use it as a TV. With 509 reviews and a 5 eggs average, plus the customer choice award, it's safe to say it's a solid monitor.

The reliability and great customer service that Newegg provides is worth the $20 premium over the DealsVista site's price.
