The New Mac Commercials Irritate Me

Is anyone else seeing these Mac commercials as nothing but a televised trollpost. Implying that anything with the words Microsoft Windows in it will automatically suck, then they pull the "rated #1 in customer satisfaction" card, which is really a dance around to say "HEY! PC World said our customer support was good once!". The bottom line is investing in a Mac is a worthless waste of money to the average computer user.

They used to use the "Windows Vista sucks" (well no duh) card as a marketing strategy, and now that Windows 7 is out and better *dare I say* even better than Windows XP when Mac couldn't pay someone to buy a mac. So now rather than find a way to improve themselves in the one area where PC tops them (Inexpensive, powerful, open development) they scramble to spend money on bashing the past of Windows.

Just thought I would vent that. Thoughts?

All they have ever been is propaganda for the masses with no substantial facts.

All their ads are bashing windows. People sez we good, buy us.

Now..if those two guys came into your office looking for a job, who do you hire?

Well when they talk about "customer satisfaction" they are mostly talking about percentage of users that enjoy Apple computers, which is actually pretty accurate. You're bond to have a high percentage of users who like your product when there are only about 50 people in the world who actually own them....

Mac's are much better than PC's when it comes to graphic design and video production. I work at a printing company and every single one of our files is created via Apple workstations. Usually any kind of publication work is better suited for Apples than PCs. Mostly because they aren't targets of virus attacks. In every other regard the PC easily trounces the Mac.

Don't pay too much attention to PC vs Mac commercials. Sure, Windows 7 will have bugs and they will be ironed out just as they always have been. I'm sure it's not going to be the worst OS Microsoft will ever put out, Windows ME takes that easily. I used that OS for 4 years and it was just a horrible experience. Vista started off rocky but now it's a reasonably good system. I'll take a look at Windows 7 next year, after the bugs have been found and fixed.

To be honest, I'm really sick of people saying that, because it's not true. Macs are more prone to viruses, because of the fact that the developers thought the same thing that you did, so there is less protection for viruses.

well actually MS does as much bashing to mac and even to linux when it comes to servers as apple

personally i use windows 7 and OS X several versions of openSuSE and SLED and they are all better for different things OS X is the best for my work because i spend all day tracking and editing audio which by the way windows 7 or xp fail at it everyway possible and get's disgusting high audio latencies than for general computer work i use opensuse which is by far my fav OS and SLED for my servers and finnly i use windows olny for games and nothing else because for how i use my computers windows is useless for anything else

kinda but the kernel on mac is much newer and slimmer than the windows one and works mostly like a unix or linux kernel compared to with windows where the kernel has been the same since Windows 4 NT and is huge bloated and unmaintainable.

Just go and buy yourself this new mac! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9BnLbv6QYcA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9BnLbv6QYcA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This was a joke, right?

that was awesome... i want one... love for it to take me forever to type something.

I do agree Mac commercial are the closest you'll get to trolling on TV. And I do agree with bullets, there are some things Macs are good for. In reality, each OS has it's own drawbacks. Macs tend to be more of a niche market, so there isn't the degree of flexibility that Windows has. Linux is great, however it is a bit tricky to understand, but its key strength is the fact that it is open source. Windows is pretty much the business standard worldwide, so it has the most exposure and you can't deny that people for the most part have used a Windows system once in their life at least, so it's the most familiar OS.

Personally, I think the Vista bashing was a bit extreme. I had Vista Business 64-bit for over a year on my system until I reformatted and installed Windows 7 couple days ago, and I had very little complaints about it. While I do agree that it was rather system resource intensive, it was very stable, hell it was more stable than XP 64-bit, in my opinion. I guarantee a great chunk, if not the majority, of complaints from Vista comes from people who have no clue what they are doing. It's a fact that not everyone is a computer expert. You wouldn't believe how many PCs I've fixed that I ask their owners what kind of virus and malware protection they have and they go 'What's that?'.

Macs actually have more security risks than PCs, but less people own Macs, so they aren't a high priority target. Furthermore, most US government offices use PCs. The reasons Windows is considered prone to viruses is because the overwhelming majority of viruses developed target WinOS computers. There are a handful of people that would even consider doing the work for developing a MacOS virus because so few people use them.

Also, who cares? They're just commercials. Anybody with half a brain doesn't base their consumerist acts on televised commercials anyway.

I can't stand these commercials either man. I'm right there with you.
