What do I do, its not my graphics card, or my drives, or my RAM, they are all fine (I can even run crysis on this laptop). Is there some magical setting or fix to this INSANE lag which drops me from 80 fps to 20 fps unscoped, and 10 scoped?

BTW can some1 post the rates i should be using, seeing as only 30% of my bullets seem to register... yey...

If you are wondering i got 2GB RAM and 512MB gfx card, 2.2GHZ dual CPU, on this laptop.

It's a 66 tick server, so,

cl_cmdrate 66
rate 20000
cl_updaterate 66

should be the basics, um others?

dont know about the smoke, it's a laptop though and source games are pretty unforgiving when it comes to rendering smoke

Well source based games are very CPU heavy, they tend to bottleneck performance based off your cpu's capabilities.

And btw, just cause your GPU has 512mb of video memory doesnt mean its adequate to render after effects like soft smoke edges, film grain, hdr, AA/AF ect.

Some more specs would help.

My rates are:

rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
cl_interp .03 to .08 (depending on server stability)
