So I was thinking about buying a new gaming rig that would meet the requirements of a high graphics game.

Here are the Requirements:
System Requirements
OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM

If you can swing it get a board that supports DDR3. I just build a Phenom II Triple core system with 4GB of ram and of all thing onboard crossfire 4200 w/HDMI and that thing reboots into xp in about 30 seconds.

You would also need a CPU fan since the kit doesn't come with one, I suggest this one, but you can probably find one cheaper one.
All together the price is about $700 but you can get a cheaper graphic card that can run any game. My friend just got a Nvidia 9800gt and he can run any game including Crysis above 30fps on highest settings.

of those three builds, i'd go for the phenom X3 rig.

That being said, are you comfortable building a system yourself? We can build a very nice computer for $700. If so, do you have a copy of any OS? That would save money.

I don't really know how to build a system for myself but my brother is a computer programmer that can get me windows 7 for free if its added to the build price
