laptop Video card question

how can i go about getting a better graphics card in my laptop? i thought you couldnt change it but then i heard you could. I have a intel mobile 4 graphics card.

You can change the graphic card in laptops with dedicated graphics but not Intel graphics they are attached to the motherboard. What laptop do you have?

Unfortunately, your model laptop does not support any other GPU, nor is it user serviceable. You do, however, have a 128MB-1342MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory range. The best you can do is use the maximum shared memory and hope for the best.

Settings should be in your Graphics Control Software, or in your OS. (Depends on what you're running)

FYI, around 99% of laptops with interchangeable GPUs are older-style AGP connected cards. Not something you'd want to spend $$ on.

how can i change the options? im running Vista 32 bit. Cause if i can get atleast 256md or 512..id be a happy camper..as long as i can run l4d2 and INS/DODs/CSS im happy.

there was an post of external graphic card units that could be plugged into a laptop special port and only decrease the performance of the graphic card by 10%-15%. The down side was the price of the external graphic card unit. Look back through the posts or someone might read this and post a link for you.

Seems your dynamic chip is full-force (a TRUE dynamic chip). Not much you can do.

ok. one more question..... i tried to update my drivers. I went to intels update page and told me to check with my manufacturers page. Well i did and it was up to date. So i did some research and so that i can update my card to the latest intel driver by manually downloading and installing it. but the page said (this was on intel's website) it might not work correctly since the drivers are customized for the pc. i thought id give it a try... how can i undo an driver update for my intel card on my laptop it if it messes up and doesnt work right? System restore or something else?

Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager

Expand Display Adapters

Right-Click on your display adapter, and select Uninstall.

Some drivers have an installation file for windows to use. You may be able to uninstall from Windows Add/Remove Programs feature.

o but if i do that will it not completely remove my graphics card ( it did with my pc) after uninstalling it i tried running a game and it wouldnt load.

You must, then, reinstall the graphics drivers.

Windows native drivers will carry you through basic computer settings. You will, however, need to install proper drivers before gaming.

I would suggest updating DirectX while you're in the mood.
