I'll put this the best way that I can. 2012 is Roland Emmerich's magnum opus.

For those of you who aren't acquainted with Emmerich, he is the man behind: Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla (1998), The Patriot and The Day After Tomorrow. He also did 30,000 BC, but I straight up refused to see that one. As you can see Emmerich is pretty much the go to guy when it comes to disaster films.

Except for maybe The Patriot, which I really liked, 2012 is better than all the films mentioned above. It is the single most ridicules movie I've ever seen. Seriously I laughed straight though this film at what was happening on screen. There is not much more to say about. Just see it, turn off your brain and enjoy.

Well I guess it wasn't intended to be a comedy, mostly because my friend and I were the only ones laughing. Apparently everyone else took it seriously. Which anything that contains this:

I can see why you would laugh at certain points in the movie. The guys an actor he's reading a script made me chuckle. And the giant donut. Looks like an epic movie.... oh and i knew california would go first lol

Well technically everything that is happening is comprised of cheesy CGI and the implausibility of the situation makes it pretty difficult to associate an emotional connection to what is happening on screen. Thus when dealing with the absurdity of everything that is happening my reaction is laughter.

There are maybe 10 deaths out of 7 billion that carry any emotional weight.
 
Wow you actually threw down ten bucks to see this? I will stick to seeing the only two movies that look any good right now, Christmas Carol and Avatar.

Well I actually got in for free....A Christmas Carol? People should really stop supporting Zemeckis's exploration of animated films. He needs to get back to live action films.
 
Ah, free would be the only way I would get in.

And if you haven't seen A Christmas Carol you should, really great.
 
I saw it yesterday. I have to say the special effects in this movie give Michael Bay a run for his money. I was blown away by all the destruction scenes. But, unlike other high special effects movies, this one also has a sad side to it and an interesting story line. I reccommend it to all.
 
I actually just came home from watching it. I'd have to say I enjoyed it. Some parts were actually humorous, but the movie itself is on a very serious note.
 
The movie should of came out in 2012. On the exact day the world is Supposed to end. It's like...December 23rd 2012? Close to that.

I would definitely laugh at this movie, judging from that scene!!
 
The special effects were great, and the story had a decent blend of humor and drama with it. This movie is actually quite decent for the family, although some of the action and destruction scenes could be viewed as just a bit too intense for the younger crowd. All in all, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...but it's still no contender when standing next to "The Day After Tomorrow". My two cents? See it when it comes out on DvD if you're just not too into great special effects, but this movie really is most promising on the Big Screen due to it's amazing special effects.
