Very long TF2 boot time

When I launch TF2, steam says 'launching team fortress 2' for an abnormal amount of time, sometimes close to 2 minutes. what could cause this? Is there any way to speed it up?

I get the same problem. It also takes a while to enter a game.

I know this may seem silly, but have you defraged your hard drive lately?

steam has a defrag utility to do just your steam files

This first:

steam has a defrag utility to do just your steam files

1.Open you steam application.
2.Open your games list in steam.
3.Right click on the game and go to properties.
4.Click on the Local Files Tab.
5.Click Defragment Cache files.

If you still have a slow boot try this:

3.Click on Disk Defragmenter.
4.Run the Disk Defragmenter.

Done and done. Still pretty slow...
