Wanting to build a new gaming pc.
Price Range Any under 1k USD.

Minium Requirements
X2 or Duo Processor
3 Year old GFX
500 Watt PSU
200 GB Hard drive

I know what to look for but having trouble put it together since this will be my first build wondering if anyone could help me pick some stuff.

I can go many different directions from here, but take a look and let me know what you do/don't like about the current build. Most of the parts are best-in-class, and some I personally use/own.

Remember that the other $90 of your budget may be tapped by thermal paste, SATA connectors, etc. if you don't like what comes with the MoBo/Proc.

This build also assumes a 64-Bit Operating System. If you would prefer a 32-Bit build, I would be more than happy to oblige.

pretty nice mobo........x8,x8,x8,x8 quadfire not bad i doubt he'll quadfire anyway though so its overkill and unneeded.

one of the sickest deals i've seen.......definitely the best build you could get as of right now, better than all AMD setups especially if you overclock the i5 750 to 4.0ghz which seems to be easily achieved by all i5's i've seen so far.

This build will let you get an ATI 5870 and still be under your budget!!!! This is an amazing combo deal and i would get it too right now but i already have a sick setup lol......luckily i read this thread and searched newegg for a good combo build and found this, will tell this to a friend of mine that wants to get a new build also.

Add another +1 for the PSU. I had great experience using Thermaltake to power my PC; even when I was on the short wattage side, I used a GPU-dedicated PSU to help, which ran fine (250watts). Currently I'm using Xigmatek since I've heard some good things about them, and the removable cabling definitely clears up the clutter inside the case.
