CPU comparison.

That's cool. It shows ow much better the CPU im getting is then the one I have now.

There are benchmarks showing the i5 750 beating the AMD Phenom II x4 965 in like everything........

Exactly.

And people say it compares to the i7 920.

Kind of, but it's still alot slower.

I'm getting the x4 940 for Christmas because it's pretty cheap for the performance and already have an AMD motherboard.

Oh...and I'll be saving $50 or so by overclocking it to 3.4ghz to the 965 speeds. With decent cooling I'm sure it could easily get to 4ghz

possibly, i've heard of problems with AMD chips, its like they hit a brick wall at 3.7ghz or 3.8 ghz and just don't go past it. I read a review on the 955 or something and like everytime they overclocked past 3.8, it was really unstable no matter wat they did. Might have just been theirs though.

Im currently on a Q6600 @ 3.6ghz and i doubt i will need an upgrade for a while, the GPU needs more of an upgrade than the CPU and will help a lot more in gaming. Waiting for them 5850x2/5870x2 or (5950/5970 as they are now called)

Haha and I'm the opposite. My CPU is bottlenecking bad so I need a new one. Intel seems an alright pick for the future, but for now AMD is just so cheap it's hard to beat. The Q9550 used to be my pick but they raised the price to almost over an i7:glare:. And DDR3 is too much to fit the budget.

your wish has been granted (well sorta)
BEASTLY

Phenom II's are amazing for the price. That's why I'm getting it. With an almost top of the line AM2+ motherboard for $115, it just can't be beat.

ya it isn't always just about performance. well for some it is, but price has something to do with it too.
mostly its about value, get the best you can for the lowest possible price, and thats looking to be AMD in both the chips and graphics cards so far
