BEASTT!!!!!
Sadly, rumors were true and it was underclocked to speeds of a single 5850........luckily it is OC friendly in terms of performance and performs on par to 5870 CF and better sometimes.

When they OC the 5970, even though it is a small overclock and still slower than 5870 speeds, it performs the same virtually and even better in games like Crysis.

Can't wait for non-referance versions that are super-cool and overclocked. THIS THING IS A BEASTTT but sadly expensive. Still sick though!!!

k thanks.....all of the reviews sites are pretty much different from one another after looking at multiple ones.

The one you just posted.......all i can say is WOW at the overclocking, they got it to be 900mhz core and 1350mhz memory after voltage tweaking which ATI includes with the 5970. Highest overclock so far compared to the other review sites. BEASTLY, will definitely outperform 5870 CF with those clock speeds.

Wait a year to get it. $600 now $400 then.

yea im definitely gonna wait, its gonna be like the 4870x2, drop to like $300's and have rebates. Im waiting for a non-reference card, it will probably be beast especially with them giving out voltage tweak tools to manufacturers, plus better aftermarket cooling.

yea its a single PCB as all the ATi X2 cards of the past have been (except maybe the 4850x2)

Well the first batch of 3870x2's were dual, just checking :P

i beg to differ: 3870x2 article

As you should know by now, the ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 is essentially two Radeon HD 3870 GPUs stuck together on the same PCB. The GPUs use a PCI Express 1.1 bridge to communicate in much the same way Crossfire ATI cards would. However, because the X2 is meant to be a 'transparent' single card solution, it is still possible to use two of these graphics cards in Crossfire mode. Meaning that with the proper drivers, a quad-Crossfire system becomes a possibility.

w/e *a vast majority of X2 cards* have been single pcb and the 5970/50 is no exception

Makes me cry when I think about my (STILL AWESOME!!!) Radeon 4870 HD x2... Looks like it's just been pwned. Bought around a year ago though, so not too bad. :)

Yeah I have had a 4870x2 for about a year now too. Bought it when they first released for $500 and can still play all of the games I have on max settings no sweat. I have no intensions on upgrading to a 5000 series anytime soon. If anything, I will get another 4870x2 and crossfire them >: )

naw, don't get another 4870x2.....they show that the 4th GPU actually decrease performance, get another single 1gb 4870 and do tri-fire, best scaling out there so far and offer the best performance.

And yes, if you have a 4870x2, there is no reason to upgrade....can still play every game maxed pretty much except Crysis of course and will last you until the ATI 6800 series come out :)

I would so prefer getting the single gpu 5870, simply because I don't want to deal with all that scaling hooey.
I mean, DirectX11, what more do you need to say?
Not exactly a hard sell.

ehh theres really no problems with scaling so far, theres only a few games where there seems to be problems with driver support and the 5970 not performing so well, it still performs just as good as a single card though so nothing to worry.
Dual-GPU's own :)

+1 :D

I have had no scaling issues. The only game that doesn't run properly is l4d2 and I have to alt+tab out every round because they STILL haven't fixed that problem that was in the demo and still in the final.

Your easily getting like 150 FPS right lol....thats wat i saw in benchmarks, sucks about the issue though, maybe they'll fix it by this weekend.
