WM+1ers make me look bad

I can't believe we are having this conversation again.
People can play how they want. Enough said.

Look, Pyro is the most friendly, accessible class in the game. That's why new players play it.

And then they see that they have this relatively powerful weapon but with short range, but they don't know maps well enough to do any real setups or ambushes. So they charge in, fire blazing.

I mean, I don't blame them. This is how I started out, with my Backburner and Flare Gun. And then I wised up and used my Flamethrower, Shotty, and Axetinguisher. And then I just moved on altogether to Soldier, then Sniper, then Scout.

People have to start somewhere, W+M1 is just one of the easiest ways. They'll later become better players., if they stick with it.

i dont mind them cuase one rocket at the feet stops them in there tracks to be finished by a 2nd one and no worries about getting it airblasted back and haveing to dodge my own rockets

W + M1 pyros are completely immoral when it comes to spies...they just burn burn burn till your dead :( I never burn a spy to death I will puff him with some fire and then axestingiush him...but never burn him to death in cold blood...all you suicidal and spy hating pyros out there, rethink that W + M1 strategy and save a spy or two ;)

I'm not saying that they are playing the class WRONG (Its just my opinion, its not like its a fact.) All I am saying is since team fortress 2 is a team game, don't rush in without thinking and wm1. extinguish people, shot gun them, spy check. There is no wrong or right way to play the game, there are ways that are better then others, and I just think wm1 isn't one of the better ways.

I believe many players think that medics won't choose to heal pyros because of the w+m1 stigma. I have a couple hundred hours as medic now, and I can assure you otherwise. Good reflect/melee capable pyros stand out from the crowd, and I heal them often.

So, lay off the new players and just do your own thing. If you need to gain a little perspective, go play a game you are new to (or haven't played in awhile). I did this with DoD, and it gave me more patience with new players.

Personally i w+m1 with heavy, tho i always run out of bullets when i reach spawn doors :S

This reminds me a little of the old TFC complaint when someone would "chase" you.

To quote my brother when he first heard of a "no spawn camping" rule on a TFC server I frequented, his first day playing:
"What? What do you mean I can't shoot at that door? This is war! I mean, it is all-out, total unadulterated war. In fact, you don't get any more 'WAR' than this! I will be shooting at that door as they come out."

ehem...gentlemen...may i present:
H0w2PYR0

That video... Notice something... HE OOSES HIS SHATGOON! (Uses his shotgun.)

Coming from a new TF2, but hardcore TFC player, the Pryo is an offensive class used to either kill everything in sight, or die with 10 assists while someone else finishes them off and takes the Intel. Therefor, WM1's are doing exactly what the class was built to do, and exactly how they were meant to be played.

On a side note, I find that the ignite/shotgun-or-air blast works far better then just trying to charge them. (Unless you're using your axe.)

While they are annoying yes, that's the idea. :glare:

wow.. i rarely see W+M1s on BM... maybe i just don't notice them before their dead? they act similarly to other pyros so it's a bit hard to tell.
anyways, stupid or not it does give the pyro a bad name. As others have said it's stupid and just a game, but still W+M1 is used as a deragatory term for pyro players, sometimes ecen ones that airblast or shotgun.

oh, and if W+m1's are killing you a lot then they have to be doing something right, right?
whether it be good at ambushing or camping health kits if they're killing you then they are playing the game right (unless they hack):P

^the above statement is a personal opinion and should be treated as such. this is not directed at anyone in particular so if this offends you i am not to be held responsible for flame wars or rage. thank you.

qft, especially the part where it says W+M1 is a derogatory term.

I'm not sure how to get closer to enemies and light them on fire if I'm not moving towards them and pushing the fire key?
If one is lighting people on fire, getting tons of assists, sending them back to spawn (either by death or by the fear of dying) then one is doing ones job right? Of course that assumes one is playing as a team player.

Assuming one is there just for fun and don't happen to care if ones team wins or loses, then running forward and lighting people on fire is pretty fun!

Pyro is the choice for new folks because it is the easiest class to play, imo. You get a sense of a pretty enduring continuous fire ability, just hold that sucker down! Along with pretty good mobility. This does not make it bad; it is my favorite class from the weapons, to the look, to the mumbling, and the reactions from other players when they are set on fire, etc.
