Nvidia GeForce VS. ATI Radeon?

NVIDIA OR ATI? WHOS BETTER OVERALL?
WHOS BETTER RIGHT NOW?
IS THE GTX 300 SERIES WORTH WAITING FOR? DOES IT SUPPORT DX11?
ATI IS IT CHEAPER AND BETTER? OR DO ALL GAMES LIKE NVIDIA AND HATE ATI?
GIve my your opinion on whos better :D
 
Neither.

Currently, ATI has the fastest card on the market. The GT300s have been announced months ago about supporting DX11. Price comparisons are always close between the two.

Why neither one wins is because, they both do the same thing, around the same price, at the same speeds. It's like picking Ford over Chevy, vice-versa. Both will have great income for many, many years and it's pretty dumb to be a fanboy of either.

I'd have to completely agree for the sake of not starting a flame war. It's all personal preference although I like to make fun of my friends who have ATIs. Although they do make very good cards, it's just too much fun to not joke about them. It's like making fun of my friends who have Macs! :D Yeah, they're amazing but still.
 
ya the olny bad thing about ati is that there linux drivers suck pretty bad but if your olny running windows that is not a issue for you.
 
The best on the market atm is ATI with their 5970. It ALWAYS fluctuates between both of these card makers and the difference is usually not much (frame wise).

Obviously everyone can tell the difference between 150 fps and 155 fps and thats why some get better gear LOL (was being sarcastic. Some people eat the fact that they have the best of something and upgrade their already good video cards to the latest. Personally, just pick a card and stick with the damn thing for a year or 2 because its a waste of money.)
 
Currently ATi for their 5000 series. I can't wait to see what Nvida will come out with.

Agreed. I use ATI most times because, well, I get them cheaper than NVIDIA cards. Absolutely no other reason. If the card you're looking at fits your price range and does what you want it to do, buy it.

There is, however, a HUGE discrepancy on the manufacture of the boards that ATI and NVIDIA's chips are seated. That's where the real nitty-gritty comes in. Doesn't matter whether it's ATI or NVIDIA, if you seat Gold on a feces platter you get, well, feces smell.
 
I'v had my 8800GT for almost 2 years now, and i must say that for a mid-range card it preforms well the latest games run smoothly on it with no reduction in FPS of course at the highest settings i can get the games only run at 50FPS but its a smooth 50.

It's all about what you want and what you can buy personally im going to pick up a gtx 260 next year and sell my old card to someone for cheap. Hoping the 300's will lower the prices of the 200's soon. =)
 
im with ATI right now because i can get them at so much cheaper and yes the ATI 5970 is currently the fastest on the market and will probably be one of the fastest even when the Nvidia GTX 300 series comes out. Its gonna be the same as last generation, ATI 5970 will be about equal to the Nvidia GTX 395 or watever their dual-card solution is if they even have one and the single GTX 300 cards will be faster than the single ATI 5870 most likely, would be dumb if they come out later and have a card thats slower...........

lol wut? Are you implying that a 4870x2 is 'about equal' to a GTX 295?

And yes, there will be a dual GPU Fermi. And it's not the 300 series, it's the Gf100 series. Get it right. :P
 
The 4870x2 held its ground against a GTX 295 considering the GTX 295 came out like a year after the 4870x2.........the GTX 295 is obviously faster but not by a whole lot, it creams the 4870x2 in Crysis but doesn't beat it by a huge margin is most of the other games.

Yea watever fermi...name doesn't really matter theyre not coming out till next year anyway. I just want them to come out so that ATI prices lower but i guess ill have to wait.
 
I have always had issues with ATi drivers... ATi manufactures e.g. radeon,sapphire, diamond.. have GARBAGE for customer service, and the companies that do both like gigabyte are crappy as well.

EVGA customer service just makes me never want an ATi card.

Used ATi and Nvidia, only use XFX which produces for both chip sets. Have had zero problems with either chip set.

Will say both ATi and Nvidia met my needs at the time when I purchased them.

Asus makes very good ATI and Nvidia cards. Radeon is not a manufacturer, it's the brand name for ATI's chipsets.

Sorry, wrote this quick while I am at work, meant to say ATi Radeon Sapphire, Diamond, HIS, etc.

And ASUS is also another brand that makes BOTH cards..

Please name me one ATi DISTRIBUTOR that can match any Green Team Manuf warranties..

And please don't say because nvidia needs the warranty and an ATi card does not..

And please also tell me why ATi has to use GDDR5 to do what Nvidia has done with GDDR3 ?

Meaning ATi goes the GDDR5 route because it's cheaper to use faster memory to get the throughput in memory power the ability to take x amount of data and processes and put it back out there. While Nvidia doing a more classic route to increase the memory interface.

The Nvidia Architechure is just the more proven of the 2, and they don't really need to push the envelope for so long due to ATi sucking hardcore... but now things are much more equal.

Because, Nvidia's architecture is better than ATI's (hence the need for ATI's higher numbers)

Yes, but you grouped it as "crappy" and I must take umbrage with that. As for the rest of your post, I'm not even going to go there.

Fair enough.

They both make impressive cards...

The deal breaker for me is the catalyst drivers.

When it comes to DX versions, it really does not matter , because not many games take advantage of them anyway...

Kinda like Java, it's not perfected.

visiontek cards have been solid and have good warranties

I second this,
my brother has had his Visiontek HD 4850 for about 2 years, and has had no problems at all, which is surprising because he only has a 350w generic Acer PSU.

I think you just need to chill out, ATI isn't that bad.
can someone say Hammer Legion Member?
