PC Crashing again...

I hate to say it, but you may be dealing with a hard drive that's going bad.

The files that are crashing are your security processor (spsys.sys) and your ATAPI controller driver (atapi.sys) files. This can be caused by several things, but a hard drive going bad is the most common. Are you running Raid 0 / 1 / 5 ?

Another possibility is that you are running a cracked copy of Win 7 using the registration delay hack. If this is the case I cannot and will not help you, sorry.

Still another possibility, and the least common, is that your registry took a major dump on you. I would suggest using a registry scanner / cleaner to test for this. There are several out there and a quick Google search should help you out.

Final possibility would be a simple virus. You can use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do a quick scan. If a virus is present, it will most likely clean it. At the very least, it will tell you you have one.

I hope this helps you! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for ya!

I'm not using Raid, I'd really be ticked if my HDD is bad :( it's brand new like the rest of everything in this PC :( I bought everything.

Windows 7 is activated and everything too...

I will do a virus scan(AVG is good right? I have 30 day trial enabled right now)

Edit: It's not 'til I replaced the CPU that I ever got a BSOD... According to someone who helped me previous with windows crashing my CPU was throwing access violations or something. Corrupted drivers. Reinstalling my OS Fixed it. I installed my OS again since then though, like 3 times actually yo clean up my drive, it's not 'til yesterday that it started crashing again... went nearly a month crash free. Only happens during games just like before too.

AVG will suit you just fine for some things. I suggest, however, using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. You're not just looking for virii, you also need to check for malware.

Another thought....I quit using AVG after it failed me horribly. (let virii through) I currently use COMODO anti-virus (free to me as a Distributor). I used Avira's Anti-Vir before that, and LOVED it!

Yet another thought.....did you install your chipset drivers / mobo drivers? I didn't even think about it but on new boards people forget about chipset drivers. What mobo are you using?

I've been to the product website before and the only things I needed from the downloads list was the Audio Driver. I use wireless networking so didn't download the nForce thing.) I have 1.50 BIOS.

I'm downloading Direct X (august 2009), apparently one of the crashes had to do with the dx kernel.

Also going to look into those anti virus programs.

Edit: I have always ran the System File Checker, found nothing wrong.

It seems it has so far, and even better BioShock seems fixed too! When I re-installed it after re-installing my OS and choosing to avoid the nVidia download, there was no sound in BioShock while in-game. Only way to fix it was to put it in Compatibility Mode Win XP SP3, and that caused the game to freeze when launching in Full Screen, so I had to launch windowed, then go full screen once at the menu screen. Decided to take off compatibility and the game launched full screen and sound works in-game xD

Thanks a bunch guys <3 Hope my BSOD's are fixed too , so far nothing.

After a bit of digging, it seems others are having the same issue. It seems to be related to your ethernet drivers and Windows 7 (uhh, weird...).

With your particular situation, it may be easy to resolve. Disable your ethernet controller from your Device manager. Let's see how it goes, but it may solve your issue.

F.Y.I. The problem you're having now is different than your previous issue. So some progress has been made!

Let me know how it goes!

Alright, thank you, disabled it, going to try playing BioShock for as long as I can to see if anything happens.

May I take your 6hr+ Ok-range as project-fixed? Please keep me informed of your progress! If it was helpful to you, let me know. It will aide me in assisting others!

If it has given you ANY trouble (hiccups in the wrong way is what I tell my clients) let me know as well. I'd truly like to be giving good advice! If there are changes to be made, let me know!
;)

Thanks for understanding.

It's been good so far, I played BioShock for over and hour and nothing happened.

Thanks a ton for your help xD If I crash again I'll post back.

Edit: I think I'm going to leave BioShock open all night when I go to bed just to see if anything happens.

Edit: Well, BioShock crashed =\ It's crashed before though. Like once or twice. Is there a way to windows to generate crash files for programs? (While playing, haven't left it on for the night yet).

Honestly, I would suggest running a tried-and-true CPU-based game for testing. (i.e. CS:S) Run it all night and see what's up. I will look deeply into BioShock and see if it's game related. (Don't have it so I can't test it for ya, sorry.) I can only see what others have posted as issues. If it continues to be a BioShock issue, I will buy it for testing purposes!

Thanks for your feedback! Let me know if anything else arises!

(also...NO there is not a way that I know of to output game-specific errors for debugging without direct access to your machine.) <--any additional info is welcome!

Alright, I own CS:S so I can test it with that. You don't to buy it to test it just for me though ,awfully nice gesture though :) When I got the BSOD's (including ones in the past) they were always during games.

Also, I thought BioShock was a CPU heavy game, it has like 8 threads I think(FPS also mroe than doubled once I upgraded from single to tri core), I'll still run CS:S though.

:) Sorry, bro. I'm a compete idiot w/ BioShock and have NO-CLUE about its coding. I just resort to what I know. ;)

Well, when I woke up CS:S was completely frozen, I couldn't alt-tab or Crtl+Alt+Del out of it, had to hold down my power button to shut off the PC. My Windows Event Viewer doesn't give me an Errors during the time I was sleeping, IDK if that's because I wasn't able to click "Close Program" when stuff stops working. The PC didn't BSOD though, so that's good xD.

Searching...

Did you install BOTH sets of drivers? No....sorry my idiot-self only gave you 1 set...grrr.

Download and install This as well. (Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot.....I'll learn some day.)

;)
