Well my grandparents have finally decided to replace there 8 year old dell desktop with 128mb of ram and single core intel celeron processor at 1GHZ. They are only wanting to spend around $400 but no more. I found this one at bestbuy, and I also found this one too. The first one has newer parts and it has Windows 7, but the second one has twice as much ram but older parts and Windows Vista. Im not sure which would be better so I was hoping someone for eGO could tell witch is better for me. Also if someone can find a better desktop it would be greatly appreciated. I would like the comp to be from bestbuy or frys.com that way i dont have to deal with shipping and they are wanting to go buy the comp tomorrow during black friday. Thanks in advance.

i say the 2nd one because its got a better processor i think and more ram but the GPU is worse. I think its better cuz your grandparents don't play games and the integrated GPU would be fine for them. Honestly though, both builds are really similar and they should both be fine but the Intel one seems better to me.

Ok i wasnt sure because the second one has a pentium processor which is kinda old now and the first one has an Anthlon II which is newer.

true......yea i guess you should just go with the first one though the E5200 isn't a bad performer, if it was a core 2 duo then i would definitely recommend it.

My decision has changed to the first one now lol

No, no, Athlon's II's are alot better than Pentium Dual Core's, so the first one has a better processor. Actually the regular Athlon's were better than most Pentium Dual Core's :P Hince why they produced the Core 2 Duo.

yea i accidently thought the 2nd one was a core 2 duo when reading E5200 but then it was pointed out that it wasn't and i changed my decision to the Athlon II x2 which are good performers when compared to the pentium dual cores.

The e5200 is a neutered e7200. Only difference between them is a couple frames and an instruction set or two.

Athlon II system is faster, though.

The first one, unless you want to have a computer with no big graphical details

Intel? Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 =

However it has a good processor compared to the other but the graphic card kills this computer

My advice take the first one.

I'd take the athlon ii over the e5200 too, but remember that the e5200 is called a pentium dual core, but is a wolfdale, which is the C2D architecture. It has good OC potential and is a great chip still.

Ok we ended up getting the 1st PC. It runs really good. The only thing is I cant realy tell a big difference between Windows 7 and Vista. To me the see to both be about the same speed wise.
