My music teacher would make us lie on the ground with out eyes closed for 45 minutes and 'tighten and relax' our muscles. It had noting to do with music, the floor was hard and full of sand, and it just made us nervous.
ummm... sounds like a pedo
actually that has something to do with music... its training ur diaphragm to help you control your breathing when playing an instrument or singing... Breathing by expanding your diaphragm and not your chest is how you make it through elongated "phrases" of music. ^.^ the closing the eyes thing... was actually supposed to get you to relax.. but I can see how it might be something to make ppl nervous these days. The hard floor.. forces you to breath a certain way.. just like if you bent over in your chair and touched your toes.. or put your hands up and cross them behind your head touching each opposite shoulder. (we did the breathing exercises like this).
