I know I know it is getting cut which is quite a shame, but just wondering why the German's now have to use their own k98 sniper instead of the Americans Springfield as it was before. It was changed months ago but I was just wondering what the reasoning was as in my opinion it gives the allies an unfair advantage of better crosshairs, so makes for an uneven playing field.
 
The update that steam released that messed up everything on our servers during the summer caused it. The plugin that controlled that hasn't been restored as far as i know
 
the k98 is actually a better rifle... the allied sniper rifle crosshairs are to small..

and what did you say? the sniper server is getting CUT? what does that mean?

Unless top leadership has changed their minds, our sniper server is slated to be liquidated as a cost cutting measure for the community. If i remember correctly, a few of the TF2 servers are also slated to go the way of our sniper server eventually.

lol, yes its going to be cut, its on the same box as other servers that are being cut :P

so sorry vizier!!!
 
shame its being cut :(. and the k98 is a better rifle and if your only problem is the crosshair get a crosshair sprite like me :p. my k98 has the springfield crosshair. so its pretty much amazing.
 
That's a shame, I used to play there a lot :(

I guess this is a matter of taste, but most league players agree that a Springfield is better at longer ranges and a Kar98 with a scope mounted on it is better for shorter ranges (ie noscoping as if it were a Kar)
 
anyone have an estimated date of it being cut? I still need to get my sniper achievements and it would take me forever on Kalt (Im not a very good sniper).
 
There is no set date at this time. All I can say is play play play, as for tomorrow is no guarantee. As for the crosshair issue, down a different skin for the scope. I have done that and it helps alot. All though I believe the springfield is a better shot for me.
 
That's a pity, I used to practice sniping there all the time. Maybe eGO could someone substitute in a sniping event on servers now, like the assault nights? I don't know how much modification of servers that would take, but it would be cool.

I do like the springfield more, but that's because I quickscope and lot and I find it better for that. However I think the k98 scoped is the noscope champ, and i prefer camping/guarding with it anyday because you just line up the aim on a wall chest level and you just hit anyone that comes through. Springfield tempts me to hit the head more.

believe me no one is more sad :crying:or mad:cursing: then me, i live in that server, its what got me to join, but what can you do :glare:
 
It is what got me to join too, I love it, I'm sure it's a really popular server I never see it empty.

Thanks for the answers guys, probably going to skin my k98 so it has Springfield crosshairs.

well talk to council and tell them you pay for it yourself lol, they might move it to a different box just for u lol, :P. so asking will never hurt bud :)

Right. At the last DoD divisional meeting, we all agreed to be quiet about this and NOT ask about it; drawing attention to it will only make it disappear sooner. Just enjoy it while you can and stop asking for upgrades/major changes, because we can't do them ourselves anyway.
