Vista??

I've been running Vista Ultimate for about 3 months now, and i really dont know why everyone complains about it. Overall i love it, doesnt lag games, and my computer has had no problems what so ever
BUT make sure he gets Ultimate, wether it be the upgrade to Ultimate or the Full-Version. Ultimate is designed for gaming and more demandig things.

Here is an idea "Stop buying Corporate Computers" Build your own it is by far the best way to go for me. I Choose what I want and guess what you can upgrade hardware lol Then you can use what ever software you want to buy
Vista isn't that bad, i cant see why people who haven't even tried it complain about it, i have had vista for about 4 months and no vista-related problems (not counting the ones that were solved in 10min and after that worked just fine). It doesn't crash much, at least not more than XP. One thing about it is that it requires a better comp than xp, if u have a great computer like mine 
you wont notice the difference but with older systems it might cause some lag.

eww, vista may be "That Bad" when i got my new comp with it i had it for 10 mins, wiped the disk, and installed XP
killed performance and fps and much of my apps and games wouldn't work with it, they may now but.. too late

You really shouldnt take much from people who admit they only have 10 minutes of experiance with Vista. I have had it since the day it was released, and I like it, and have had nearly zero problems.
Consider that most people get rid of it in 10 minutes because they cant handle the changes made from XP, not because it crashes. The second most people decide to hate it before for the 10 minutes they tried it - back when it reas released, the drivers for it sucked so yes, you got less FPS because nVidia only had BETA drivers - as did almost every company for almost every part.
Right now, I have the latest drivers for all of my stuff and I have both XP and Vista installed. I havnt used XP for months - but when I do, I get between 0-1 FPS more than in vista. However this is because of my hardware. Wats the big difference between 167 and 168 (example only). I have virtical sync on so either way I only get 80.
With a new computer you shouldnt have any trouble - just make sure to get 2GB of RAM and NEVER less (for gamming). With an older computer, if you have trouble running vista due to it's demanding personality when it comes to resources then Obviously you are not going to be able to run games well on it.

Vista's fine. Do what Dye told you and it'll work. I've had vista for a few weeks now and there are almost no problems with it. Make sure that the computer can handle vista as my eMachine is a bit weak for it

i like vista, but i had Aero turned off, and it worked much smoother.

Honest in the begining Vista sucked an no one could argue that, but now especially on the Verge of Vista SP1. Almost all of the problems have been solved. Alchemy is starting to work better also which will allow better backwards compatibilit with older games. If you buy a good modern machine you shouldn't have any problems. I'll admit I'm still tainted by my early experiences with Vista I bought a top of the line laptop got the Graphic card, 2GB ram Fast processor, and it ran like a beast after tweaking it for a month. I eventual returned it the day Dell started offering XP again. Honestly a a year or two when I build my new PC Vista will most likely be at SP2 and XP at SP4 and I'll be builing a vista rig.
