Medal of Honor returns to the front lines, this time in today?s war. For the first time in the franchise?s 10-year history, Medal of Honor is leaving the WWII theatre and putting players in war-torn Afghanistan. Electronic Arts Inc. today revealed that in 2010, Medal of Honor, an all-new first-person shooter game, will introduce the Tier 1 Operator: a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle. The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience. Set against the backdrop of a rugged and brutal landscape, Medal of Honor depicts modern military operations through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Inspired by real events, Medal of Honor reveals the mission of today?s most elite soldier ? his will, his mindset and his uncompromising professionalism.

Medal of Honor is being built with a best-in-class single-player campaign. The Medal of Honor development team at EALA has been hand-selected by the studio leadership of General Manager Sean Decker, Executive Producer Greg Goodrich and Senior Creative Director Rich Farrelly. To compliment the single-player experience, EALA has enlisted the multiplayer expertise at EA DICE. This team will develop the multiplayer experience of Medal of Honor. These two studios are coming together to deliver a world-class Medal of Honor that is poised to re-set and re-boot the franchise for a new generation.

?When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today?s war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war.? said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer, Medal of Honor. ?We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience.?

Looks like Medal of Honor is going the "Modern Warfare" route..

cant wait. Loved all the medol of honor games. Hoping it to be better than MW though. Also excited to see the soundtrack they put together, they always do the best music.

Yep, plus DICE is doing the MP.. so this could be amazing, plus a return to Dedicated servers.

I have the Gamecube MoH's (hey, I used to have a slow computer :P) and they're really fun, so hopefully this'll be good. I'd actually prefer WWII though.

Anyone else getting tired of historic/modern FPS? I would rather see a fictional storyline instead of the ones devs are working on now.

Wow it sounds awesome :) I loved all of the Medal of Honors.

Here's a fun fact for everyone.

The Infinity Ward creators were actually producers, designers, etc. of all of the old Medal of Honor games, but they had too many restrictions from EA and decided to make their own (Call of Duty PC, which was the first)

cool factoid, I haven't read the IW wiki

If DICE is making the MP i'm down for this game. I'm not too sure about it being heavily set in the "realism" side of the genre as those tend to not be my kind of game, but we'll see how it comes out. I'm excited to see someone else come into the modern warfare genre though, good or bad.

I love the Medal of Honor series. I've never been disappointed by EA with these games. I can't wait for this.

The only game I didn't like was Airborne. It was just soooo short, I think 5 or 6 missions and they lasted 10-20 minutes each at the most.

If DICE is doing the multiplayer, then I'm sold. Also, a Vietnam-era FPS wouldn't be too bad. In fact, I'd very much like it.

there are plenty games out there that do this, it just turns out that the best FPS generally do not. (and by best i mean most successful)

Not really diggin' the biker dude on the front. Seriously, look at him

I hope this will be better than Airborne. That game was hard and the last level was ANGRY FACE bad.

It looks very, very promising -- especially because DICE is doing the MP.

Can't wait to see a teaser trailer and some in-game screenshots.

Actually, many members of the Spec Ops opt to grow their beards out. I don't know the definitive reason for it, but I'm certain that it helps them to better "blend" in with the Afghan people, in this case, or with any natives/nationals of countries residing in the Middle-East, South Central Asia, or the like. If they (SEALS, Green Berets, etc) were all clean-shaven, they would definitely stick out like a soar thumb...at least in my honest opinion.

Here's a link to an image of a few Navy SEALs in Afghanistan prior to Operation Red Wing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Navy_SEALs_in_Afghanistan_prior_to_Red_Wing.jpg.
