Avast updated shortly ago, and now a TON of programs are coming up as the trojan horse Win32:Delf-MZG [Trj]. Is this JUST me and my computer, or is it Avast the one with the problem?

It's most likely a false positive. No worries. Avast will be updating their database soon to fix the issue.

If you are extra worried, run Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware.

Be SURE to NOT delete or quarantine any files that are detected. You may damage the programs attached.

I hope this helps you! If you would like other anti-viral program suggestions or need any further assistance, feel free to ask!

I think people get too worried about viruses.

I never use any kind of anti-virus program (it's been about 10 years now) and I've never gotten a virus. I do install Avast every once inna while just to make sure.

You just have to be cautious about browsing.

You really should use an antivirus program. Just a few weeks ago, I got a nasty virus, and I never visit any dangerous sites. The simple fact that you are connected to the internet means that you can catch a virus. And with many free antivirus solutions out there, there really isn't a good reason not to have one.

wow same thing happened last nite on me. detected about 110 files, most i recognized and knew right away what was what, well at least most of em. nothing to worry about.

Norton? Eww... Norton's just... well... put it this way...

One time I ran a scan with Norton, it found 2 infected files, cleaned them. I ran a second scan immediately after, it detected nothing. I then ran a scan with Kaspersky, it found 12 more infected files that Norton couldn't.

I don't run a scanner all the time either, never have issues. After I format and reinstall Windows, once I'm done tweaking the registry/services/etc to make it safer and squeeze extra juice out of it, I throw on a few apps like CCleaner, SpywareBlaster, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware... every once in a while I might install Kaspersky to do a full AV scan, or even load up TrendMicro's Housecall if I don't feel like installing the full app... Avira AntiVir is a pretty decent free antivirus program.

I never got around to researching things like Sandboxie and OpenDNS as preventative measures, but if I'm ever unsure about a specific file or website, I'll load up VirtualPC to download/view it so I have a chance of it not infecting my actual filesystem.

Yeah, Norton will drag your computer's performance to hell, along with the few viruses.

Dude I used to think the same my family has had computers for more then 10 years and never had any viruses... but just a few monthes ago all the just about all our computers got viruses(not at the same time about a few weeks apart) due to not haveing anti-viruse on them one of them were so bad that you could only successfully boot up the computer about half the time and when it did boot up the os was so messed up that it couldn't really do any thing so I have lerned my lesson about not havein AV.

Can I have your e-mail? I got a bunch of files to send you.

Seriously though, you should have a virus scanner. I use COMODO, it's free AND let's me know when something wants to mess with my system files.

If you're going to pay, Bitdefender and Nod32 are good, although they have a few false positives as well.
