Need Spy Lessons! ;.;

Ok! I try to play spy on BlackMesa and 2Fort sometimes..and I fail. I miss those quick chances at a backstab, or the person whips around every...bloody..time..:facewall: Or I find the one person willing to use a whole clip to spycheck me, even if I stand there and LET him shoot me, like a teammate would.:chair:

Either I am really unlucky, or I need spy lessons. Heeeeelllllppp!:scared:

Well, I am no Spy expert, but, at least on 2Fort, I think it is easier to play Spy defensively than offensively, mostly because it's pretty difficult for a Spy to get in or out of the base easily.

Dead Ringer does pretty well there, though.

Being a spy on the IR server here is pretty frustrating most times. It's sometimes half down to luck if you even want out from your base alive and undetected.

Well playing spy can be hard on those maps so personally I would suggest trying to play spy on plmaps since the whole team is always around the cart and should help you get better in those situations. I first learned to play spy on badwater and my skills as spy have shot up. I would also suggest to learn the lay out of all maps, know all shortcuts and where med kits and ammo packs are. Also what type of watch do you use changes your play style at times, unless you can play agressive with all types of watches. I would also suggest watching a few vids on playing spy and other spy frag vids and learn a few other habits spys have. Other than that, I would suggest to keep at it and not give up. How many hrs to you have played as spy, and do you know how to do the diff types of stabs? If not, I can post vids on how to do a few of them. Maybe it may help you out, just let me know.

I have watched many vids and I recently reset my stats but I probably have 12-20 hours total as spy. I just seem to have bad luck and I use Dead RInger. If I use C&D, the loud decloak gets me nuked. ;.;

If you only have that little hrs played as spy, dont expect to pick up on playing spy fast, it takes alot of time. I have about 1000 hrs as spy and I have trouble with a few minor things but, the key to the dead ringer is once killed run far away and uncloak, or run to an ammo pack and uncloak and pick up the ammo pack. That way if they are still following you, you have another full DR chance to get away. Rinse and repeat as needed. For some C&D action, look here . Best seen in full screen in HD.

I'd say I'm a decent spy. Not as good as frisky (Yet).

The most important rule is to be patient. If you're patient, you can get out 10-12 kills before you die.

It's also more important to take out medics than a heavy. Medics can ruin a whole game for your team! If you kill them, That can give your team more time to push their team back, and possibly win. Make smart decisions for your team, and you can help them out a ton!

I think the best watch is the C&D. I usually uncloak when there's a lot of explosions going on. This conceals the loud cloak that happens. If your far away, That can be a good time to uncloak sometimes too.

Dead Ringer is pretty good in Mesa and 2Fort.

But do not play too much with it. I did and now I cant play with "normal" Spy-watches

But Dead Ringer is good because it's forgiving, you miss that stab? Dont worry, rightclick and if you get shot you can come back and strike again!

I cant really say how I play, I have played spy for so long alot of my game play is reflexes and instinct as to what the best course of action is...to bad it isnt the best choice some times and I end up dying, but thats the thing with spy dont give up persistance is key. I used to be a really really bad spy, no joke. Until I saw a vid on how to play spy by OMFG Ninja and it showed a ton of diff spy stabs and a whole new way on how to play spy opened up for me. I started getting better chain kills and better knowledge on how to move through enemy territory while enemies are comming at me. You will have to know how to manuver in and out of enemy territory and if you seen any of my vids, when someone spots you cloak and hid. Best place to hide is usually on top of a box or hill or something out of the line of fire imo, DO NOT just cloak and stand still and hope they will pass by you, that never works out trust me.

Oh, Frisky, could you post a video on how to do the quickstab/sidestab/whaever it is, where you are running one way then suddenly reverse and stab the person chasing you like at 5:46 to the medic in the video, and the stab like how you stabbed the medic and soldier at 0:37, and the medic at 3:20, I think you did it at one other part where you just backed up and stabbed, although that might have been in one of your other vids. But I guess another example would be how you dispatched Dopey at the end of your preview for your next video , that would be great if its possible for you to do that, thanks . Also whats the name of the song you use in your preview vid?

EDIT: The reason I ask is because when I attempt to copy your techniques in the video, I always end up either A. Backing up too early, B. running into them while backing up, or C. it just fails utterly lol. I have only done it successfully once, and that was only because I had run through the doorway and turned the corner to see a heavy with his gun spinning and kritzkrieged pointing right at me, I immediately started backing up and the pyro who was chasing me got in front of me and I stabbed out of reflex action lol.

Frisky, I added you to Steam friends so I can see which servers you play on. (I do not have all our EGO servers added since adding them OUTSIDE a game does not have them show up INSIDE said game. >.> This way, if I see people in an EGO server I don't have, I can add it to faves.

hey guys, I also struggle big time to play spy, thin Spy must be one of the best classes to play if you can master it, ..... guess I have to practice lots to get the hang of it.

Have played on some servers with amazing players playing as Spy, total respect to those players.

Just take notes and keep at it, watch vids and practice practice practice. If you need any more info, be specific with questions and what watch you use mainly and what you would like to learn. There are alot of vids out there and I know where to find alot of them

Thanks for the advise Frisky, have seen some videos on spy class, as I say amazing players that make it look easy.

Will keep at it, I was told that I should try 2Fort map to learn to use the sniper.
