Well i'm getting one of the two, which one should i get? i have a 650i mobo if that's needed.

well you have an Nvidia mobo so im guessing you will be able to SLI on it........and im pretty sure the Nforce mobo's don't support crossfire without a bios mod, all board older than LGA 1366, 1156 of course

If you get an ATI 4890 to overclocks of around 1000mhz then you have an extremely good card on your hand and it will beat the GTX 275 most of the time i think except for maybe Crysis and a couple other games where Nvidia pulls ahead.

The GTX 275 will let you SLI if your mobo allows it and its not a bad choice either.

Both cards are head to head but if you Mobo can do SLI, i say go with the GTX 275 even though i like the 4890 because if you can SLI the GTX 275 in the future, it would be much better

the 4890 will be cheaper by quite a bit, but it can give performance equal to or greater than if you OC the card. however i guess you could oc the 275 as well.
price to performance ratio i'd have to give it to the 4890 (as always ati wins here really) but if you can SLI then you may want to think bout getting the 275 because then you could get another when the 300 series comes out and they drop in price

then i say go for the 4890, you'll definitely get the most bang for your buck. especially being in toronto and being able to shop at canadacomputers.com you can get a sapphire 4890 for 190 bucks or a 275 gtx for 250-275

4890 uses more idle and load power, and from what people tell me, it runs hotter. The performance is just about equal. But, both overclock very well.

With an Nvidia chipset you should see more performance and a more stable system using an Nvidia card (same thing applies with AMD boards and ATI cards)

Forgot to mention, the 4890 is cheaper at most places. (This is why I buy from Ebay..you can find a 275 for maybe $100 cheaper)

I just ordered a GTX 275 for $269.

wow alrite at that price i would just have recommended an ATI 4890......they are cheaper and give equal performance and your not going to SLI so no point.

With $270 you can get a 5850 when they drop a bit in price, they originally started at $260 and a 5850>GTX 285

I was thinking ur price range was like $200 flat so i didn't recommend the 5850 but now that you paid $270, i would definitely recommend a 5850

i got the 275 cause my dad bought me this 275 for my b day that was a couple weeks ago, and maybe with my Christmas money i will buy a second. and they also mentioned that 3rd party ATI cards have troubles on 630I's.

and well hes not too far from where i live, and right now 4890s run between 180-220, 275 is at 250-280 and 5850 is 319-329 in price.
im still personally getting the 5850 even tho it did raise in price like 30 bucks because on the 18th i'll be able to upgrade, and i don't think i'll be able to otherwise...so im upgrading.
the 275 will still be a great card tho, overclock that like a mother and it'll outperform a 285 too.

im starting to look into aftermarket VGA coolers tho because i dunno if the 5850 stock cooler will be ideal for the overclock i wanna force on it, you might wanna do the same bout the 275 im not sure. but you can get great coolers for like 30-50 bucks. might be something you can spend christmas money on instead of another card, and just overclock the bajesus out of it
