Hey guys! Right now I just completed the building stage of my computer and am reading to install Windows 7 on it. Just thought I post my specs so you guys could take a look at them and give me any advice.

Also: Help on OverClocking would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Case: Antec 200 Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Processor: Intel i5-750
PSU: OCX GameXStream 700W
Graphics Card: Saphire Radeon 5770
RAM: G.SKILL 6GB DDR3
Mobo: ASUS P7P55D

Thats all I can think of right now! Might update later!

alrite, for your 5770, just use ATI overdrive for now and do the auto-tune that it has. It will achieve the max OC your GPU is capable of. Auto-tune is never perfect and you will need to tweak it a little by lowering the clock speeds slowly and re-testing them. You could play a game and so-on for a bit and see if it artifacts or anything. If it doesn't then your fine. The 5770 should get you a hefty overclock from what i've seen on the web.

The i5 750, it is recommended you buy an aftermarket cooler. As i've been corrected before by FrekingHell, the Noctua NH-D14 is as of now the best air cooler on the market pretty much. The thing is huge so you may need to make sure it fits in your case. It is expensive so if you need a cheaper option let me know and i will look for a cheaper option.
To overclock there are many guides out there on the web, google and you will find some. I personally just mess around with voltage settings and the FSB settings to achieve my overclock. The NB, SB and all that is a bit confusing to me and i just use other peoples settings for those and its worked out fine so far.

Your gonna need a program to test your CPU overclocks, OCCT is a good program if you wanna check in a shorter amount of time. Prime95 is the best but its alot more tedious i guess cuz you might want to leave it on for a whole day to know its completely stable. I personally say use OCCT to just get a somewhat stable OC then use Prime95 to get it fully stable.

Auto Tune DOES NOT achieve maximum over clock. I can get my 4890 up to 950 GPU clock and 1000 Memory clock, where as auto tune only really goes to about 915 GPU and 1000 mem

I made a good choice then, I actually already have installed a Noctua NH-D14 with my build, so I already have after-market cooler.

ooo well for me it makes the overclock too high, start artifacting in games when i use it so i tone it down like 10mhz if needed and then all runs smooth :)

i bios modded my card tho so i can get past the ATI OC wall lol

very good choice lol......best cooler out there.......you will easily achieve 4.0ghz on your i5 750, i think you might even be able to hit 4.2ghz but i would play it safe and just do 4.0ghz flat or 4.1ghz if you can, would give you an epic performance boost, beats out even the top of the line AMD 965 BE

I could boost the 2.6GHz i5-750 up to 4.0GHz? I don't think that will work...

The 1156 chips are actually somewhat difficult to get up to 4.0Ghz(In contrast to the 1366 chips). The built in PCIe controller is what makes it difficult. It doe NOT have it's own separate clock, meaning if you overclock the CPU, you overclock it, which can lead to a multitude of issues. It also makes the chip very voltage thirsty when overclocked.

Pickles, yes you could, however it wouldn't be easy, especially for someone new to overclocking.

the faster the clock speed the faster the computer, but if you dont' even have any programs or anything that can test the speed of your cpu even at stock speeds, theres really no need for overclocking other than bragging rights....which don't get me wrong, is a very good reason to...muahaha
whats the max on the 965? it can get up to 4 ghz but i don't think it can go much higher...too busy and bothered to look it up now

Why don't you wait to see how it performs before you start trying to overclock, I got a core i7-920 and see no need for overclocking for now.

same. At 2.66 gHz it has demolished everything except crysis, which was in large part due to my video card.

@ junk : I've heard that he 965/975 has gotten to 5.0 at least, but i cant verify it. I know the phenom 2's have gotten to 7 ghz though.

yes but not everybody has liquid helium laying around for cooling

Good aircooling can take you to 4 ghz, water to 4-4.5.
After that its phase change or liquid helium like you said if you want to push the CPU to 5 ghz
