I currently have a Samsung Syncmaster 204BW. Earlier, when I was laying down for a nap, I thought I heard a soft popping sound... but since I wasn't even sure I heard it I just went to sleep (My monitor was OFF).

When I woke up and turned my monitor on, my entire screen was red tinted. I can see black and shades of gray clearly.... but everything else looks like I'm looking at it through rose-colored glasses. Anyone ever have this problem before? I can't find anything about this online.

Id try replacing the cable that connects your monitor to your computer. If nothing is wrong with it, see if your monitor has a self test that will display colors. If the colors are correct on the self test, then your GPU is probably bad. If you have another monitor around, I suggest trying it before you replace the GPU.

Reminds me of what happened to my ViewSonic, but everything was a bunch of pink and green squares.

I'd guess by the popping sound that something went wrong inside it.

Could be a driver problem, Try re-installing your drivers for your moniter.

This happened when I had a CRT, a tube went out. (I think so).

Yeah, I think it's the monitor itself. The popping sound came from within the monitor, and none of the controls for the monitor will work (menu button no longer works, brightness etc etc).

I'll be sending the monitor out to get fixed since it's still under warranty, but tis still annoying.
